  • Publication number: 20060170293
Abstract: The apparatus for converting side-to-side to rotational motion for a workpiece includes a spring assembly with a movable base mounting element which is driven in a slightly arcuate reciprocal side-to-side motion and a fixed mounting element spaced apart from the base element and mounted in the appliance so that it does not rotate or move in operation of the apparatus. A spring member, such as two planar leaf springs positioned at an angle to each other, is mounted between the movable base element and the fixed mounting element. A drive shaft member extends from the movable base element through the fixed mounting element and beyond. A workpiece such as a brushhead is mounted on the distal end of the drive shaft. The spring member is configured so that it is substantially less resistant to twisting action than bending action, such that the side-to-side motion of the base element results in rotation of the workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20050150279
Abstract: The interior of a vessel containing pressurized fluid is protected against undesirable chemical corrosion and/or mechanical erosion caused by the fluid due, for example, to changes in the chemistry of the fluid, by an imperforate, chemically corrodable tube projecting into the interior of the vessel and having a closed inner end. A chemical corrosion through-opening in any portion of the tube permits pressurized fluid to enter and pressurize the tube interior, with fluid pressure within the tube being utilized to automatically generate a corrosion/erosion detection signal indicative of an undesirably high fluid chemical corrosivity level within the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20050151546
Abstract: The interior of a vessel containing fluid is protected against undesirable chemical corrosion and/or mechanical erosion caused by the fluid due, for example, to changes in the chemistry of the fluid, by an electrically conductive, chemically corrodable sacrificial member having an internal section disposed within the tank and an exposed exterior portion connected to an electrical corrosion/erosion detection circuit operative to create and maintain a flow of electrical current through the sacrificial member. When the internal section of the sacrificial member is subjected to a predetermined combination of fluid exposure time and fluid chemical corrosivity within the vessel a chemical corrosion gap is formed within the internal sacrificial member section. Creation of this gap terminates or at least substantially reduces electrical current flow through the sacrificial member and responsively causes the detection circuit to output a corrosion/erosion detection signal indicating the need for corrective action.
