  • Patent number: 11590745
Abstract: The present invention provides coated films and packages formed from such films. In one aspect, a partially coated film comprises (a) a film having two outer surfaces, wherein a first outer surface is provided by a film layer that comprises from 70 to 100 percent by weight of a polyolefin having a density of 0.860 to 0.965 g/cm3; and (b) a coating on the first outer surface of the film comprising polyurethane, wherein the coating covers less than 25% of the surface area of the first outer surface of the film and wherein the coated portion of the film exhibits an Elmendorf tear in at least one of the machine direction or cross direction that is at least 20% less than the Elmendorf tear of the uncoated portion in the same direction, with the Elmendorf tear being measured in accordance with ASTM D1922.

  • Publication number: 20220194066
Abstract: A multi-layer coextruded film structure, particularly a multi-layer coextruded barrier film structure, for producing a recycle-ready packaging material, the multilayer coextruded film structure comprising at least two or more polymeric layers; wherein at least one of the polymeric layers comprises at least one fluorescent tracer that has an absorbance wavelength and an emission wavelength when exposed to ultra violet light; that provides a detectable fluorescence when exposed to ultra violet light at an absorbance wavelength in the range of from 100 nm to 400 nm; that provides an emission wavelength in the visible blue range of from 380 nm to 700 nm when exposed to ultra violet light, and that provides visible identification of recycle-ready packaging material made from the multi-layer film structure; and wherein the visible identification, in turn, provides the capability of sorting the recycle-ready packaging material from non-recycle-ready packaging materials; a process for producing the above multilayer f

  • Publication number: 20220118750
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to multilayer films, laminates, and articles. In one aspect, a multilayer film comprises (a) a first layer comprising a first composition, wherein the first composition comprises at least one ethylene-based polymer and wherein the first composition has a density of less than 0.935 g/cm3, a melt index (I2) of less than 2.0 g/10 minutes, a MWCDI value greater than 0.9, and a melt index ratio (I10/I2) that meets the following equation: I10/I2?7.0?1.2×log(I2), wherein the first layer comprises at least 50 percent by weight of the first composition based on the weight of the first layer; (b) a second layer comprising a first polyethylene having a density of greater than 0.950 g/cm3 and a melt index (I2) of less 2.
