Abstract: A plant for assembling elastomeric pneumatic tires having a plurality of assembling drums (2) moveable along a predetermined assembling path. Each drum encounters, according to a pre-established sequence, a number of primary work stations (10, 11, 12, 13) each intended for the application of a respective main component (4, 5, 6, 7) common to a plurality of carcass types included in a predetermined production range. Alongside the primary stations are auxiliary work stations (14, 15) intended for applying specifically provided accessory components (8, 9), each being designed for a particular carcass type. Each auxiliary station can be removed and replaced by a different station depending on the type of process to be carried out and is movable between a rest position in which it is perpendicularly moved away from the assembling path and a work position in which it is operatively disposed along the assembling path, in order to execute the application of the respective accessory component.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for the manufacture of pneumatic tires comprising a carcass formed of reinforcing plies and bead cores are disclosed. The tire carcass is built up around a first drum in cylindrical configuration and bead cores are applied to the carcass. The carcass is transferred telescopically to and around a second expandable drum. The carcass is then torically shaped and the ends of the plies turned-up around the bead cores.

Abstract: A process and apparatus are provided for making a bead wire and bead zone filler for a vehicle tire. The apparatus has a rotatable drum and deformable tubular member disposed on the drum. The external surface of the tubular member is adapted to receive a strip of elastomeric material to be shaped into the bead zone filler. The tubular member is changed from tubular to annular shape with a fluid under pressure.

Abstract: A process is provided for turning-up sidestrips and the ends of body plies on the sidewalls of a torus-shaped tire body. The body of the tire is expanded circumferentially, the ends are turned over and the sidewall strips are stitched simultaneously.An apparatus for practicing the process has a device provided with a support for the assembly which turns-up the sidestrips and ends of the body plies which permits insertion and removal of the assembly in the cavity of the tire.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for assembling reinforcing rings and bead filler with a vehicle tire carcass. The apparatus has an expandable drum and a device for centering and locking the rings on the drum. The device comprises a support member which is coaxial with the drum and has bars which form a cage slidably disposed on the drum. The device also has a centering device for centering the rings on the drum.

Abstract: A device for removing a tire from the drum of a tire building machine is mounted on the transfer ring of the device which transfers the assembled plies of a breaker structure to the tire building drum. The device has a frame-like cradle with a pivotable bottom member and a drive member for moving the frame-like member against a bottom segment of the tire. It also has a swinging arm member and a fluid actuated cylinder for disposing the arm against a side of the tire. The swinging arm structure is movable parallel to the axis of the drum to slide a shaped tire from the drum. The pivotable bottom of the cradle-like member is pivoted to discharge the tire.
