  • Patent number: 6698574
Abstract: In a production line small parts or conductor ends are transported by workpiece carriers from work station to work station in a production direction. First and second groups of work stations. First and second transfer devices move the workpiece carriers from work station to work station in the groups. An interchange device is connected between the two transfer devices, the first transfer device handing over the workpiece carriers to the interchange device and the interchange device feeding the workpiece carriers to the second transfer device. The interchange device serves as an adapter for different workpiece carrier spacings (pitch dimensions) of the first and second groups. The workpiece carriers are maintained in positive positions upon the transfer devices and the interchange device, each of which is independently driven to allow synchronism to be accomplished when a carrier is transferred to or from the interchange device.

Abstract: In a production line, small parts or conductor ends are transported by means of workpiece carriers from work station to work station. First and second transfer devices and an interchange device move the workpiece carriers from work station to work station. The devices each consists of a support unit and a belt module. The belt module is inserted from above into the support unit, wherein slots of a wheel axle and dogs of a pulley axle are vertically aligned. The dogs then fit into the slots, and a gearwheel of the belt module is coupled with the transfer drive. The belt module can be inserted or removed without demounting the transfer drive.

  • Patent number: 5481794
Abstract: A device for simultaneously receiving objects arranged in a first positional arrangement and for simultaneously delivering such objects arranged in a second positional arrangement, and a method of using such device. More particularly, the apparatus includes a plurality of movable object carriers which can slide freely relative to each other on a predetermined path and which can be brought into the position corresponding to the desired distances with a programmable positioning device. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus can be used in an installation for automatically inserting contact elements in supports for pin and socket connectors and enables the contacts of the pin and socket connectors to be mounted in positions corresponding to a freely chosen pattern.

  • Patent number: 5283950
Abstract: The apparatus enables grasping a predetermined number of objects infed in a row and placing the grasped objects into a row arrangement containing a predetermined spacing from one another. There are provided tools containing displaceable object carriers and non-displaceable object carriers. The objects which are present in a predetermined pattern spacing are received by one of the tools and transferred to the object carriers of another one of the tools. By shifting the object carriers the objects are placed in a desired pattern having a predetermined pattern spacing, then transferred to the one tool and further processed by such one tool. The apparatus is particularly suitable, for instance, for the mounting of contact elements in insulating bodies of plug and socket connectors.

  • Patent number: 4718533
Abstract: A production line for the manufacture of electric parts includes a conveyor belt and a plurality of parallel-arranged processing stations disposed along the belt. Workpiece carriers are transported by the belt. Each processing station includes a lifting mechanism which lifts at least one carrier from the belt for further handling, while leaving the belt unobstructed so that subsequent carriers can be conveyed beneath the lifted carrier. A gripper inserts workpieces onto the raised carrier and/or removes workpieces from the raised carrier. Movable stops are positioned upstream of the lifting mechanism to stop a subsequent carrier as the lifted carrier is lowered back onto the belt.

  • Patent number: 4679312
Abstract: Stators are produced by advancing stator workpieces successively to a plurality of work stations. The stators are mounted in holders which each comprises a pair of downwardly depending legs resting on a pair of horizontally spaced conveyor belts. The belts are continuously driven to advance the holders to the work stations. At each station the holder is restrained from movement (e.g., by being lifted off the belts) while the belts continue to be driven. At a winding station, upper and lower winding forms are advanced toward a stator workpiece, the lower form passing between said belts and legs.

  • Patent number: 4634224
Abstract: The correction filters which are used in manufacturing the structure of phosphor areas on the screens of color picture tubes are made more effective by being silvered or aluminized and provided with optical antireflection coatings. Owing to the resulting reduction of both the exposing and the cooling times, the number of lighthouses required for a certain production volume can likewise be reduced.

  • Patent number: 4553319
Abstract: Apparatus for connecting the ends of stator windings to stator supply terminals comprises a stator holding device which holds a wound stator with each winding end held by a holding element and an insertion and clamping device which is displaceable toward the stator holding device and which comprises a tong-like gripper for each winding end which is swivelable toward and away and laterally with respect to the stator holding device 2 under variable tension. The grippers engage the winding ends and displace them into the respective supply terminals, whereupon the terminals are clamped by a clamping device.

  • Patent number: 4483433
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding and removing work pieces to and from first and second work stations coupled in parallel comprises first and second transporters for transporting work pieces to and from the first and second work stations, respectively; and a transfer system for each of the work stations for transferring work pieces from the first transporter to the corresponding work station and from the corresponding work station to the second transporter. Each of the transfer systems comprises a displaceable work piece receiver disposed in a first position thereof in alignment with the first and second transporter such that work pieces being transported by the transporters can pass through the work piece receiver.

  • Patent number: 4284695
Abstract: A phosphor-containing layer (2) deposited on the glass faceplate (1) of a color-picture tube is hardened by exposure to light in two steps in order to obtain an amount of light varying from point to point on the glass faceplate and to realize sharp-edged phosphor strips having only slight width variations. In the first step, the main portion of the amount of light required to harden the layer is allowed to fall on the layer without affecting the position-dependent light distribution, and in the second step the layer is exposed essentially to the position-dependent amount of light required to complete the necessary total amount of light.
