  • Publication number: 20050237858
Abstract: A reconfigurable linear array of sensors (e.g., optical, thermal, pressure, ultrasonic). The reconfigurability allows the size and spacing of the sensor elements to be a function of the distance from the beam center. This feature improves performance for imaging systems having a limited channel count. The improved performance, for applications in which multiple transmit focal zones are employed, arises from the ability to adjust the aperture for a particular depth.

  • Publication number: 20050215894
Abstract: An ultrasound system includes an ultrasound probe configured for sensing and transmitting ultrasound signals. The ultrasound system further includes an optical conduit configured for coupling a light source and an optical detector in an optical path. The optical conduit includes electro-optic modulators configured for modulating optical signals on the optical conduit with at least one of the electrical signals configured to generate corresponding optically modulated analog signals on the optical conduit. In one example, the electro-optic modulators comprise electro-optic polymer modulators.

  • Publication number: 20050137479
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for performing pulsed-wave spectral Doppler imaging at every color flow range gate location in a two-dimensional (or three-dimensional) region of interest. Spectral processing is necessary to determine the flow parameters. Performing this processing at every color flow range gate location creates the two-dimensional image. The method generates two-dimensional images of flow parameters such as peak velocity, pulsatility index, resistance index, etc. With the two-dimensional image, the user immediately observes where the most critical value of the flow parameter occurs and what that value is.

  • Publication number: 20050096544
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a method and system for improved ultrasound imaging using single transmission coded excitation. Certain embodiments include encoding a first ultrasound beam with a first code, transmitting the first ultrasound beam on a first path, encoding a second ultrasound beam with a second code, transmitting the second ultrasound beam on a second path and receiving echo signals from the first and second ultrasound beams. The codes may be complimentary Golay codes or other complimentary codes. The first and second paths may be adjacent scan lines. The method may also include match filtering the echo signals with corresponding matched filters. Match filtered echo signals along adjacent scan lines may be filtered, such as with a lateral averaging filter or other finite impulse response filter. Alternate complementary code transmission helps preserve or improve frame rate while maintaining signal-to-noise ratio improvement and range lobe cancellation.

  • Publication number: 20050096545
Abstract: A probe having a plurality of transducers also has a plurality of pulsers within the probe that are responsive to one or more transmit timing signals received from an external system to transmit pulses to the plurality of transducers. The external system may be, but need not be, an imaging system, and the transducers may be, but need not be, ultrasound transducers.

  • Patent number: 6129882
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing multifilament threads with at least one hot-air module 6 for drawing or relaxing the thread Y. To manufacture multifilaments with particularly high strength and to avoid the problems of the bearings of the rollers 9, 10 in the hot-air modules 6, at least one apparatus is provided for screening the hot stream of air from the rollers 9, 10, 10' of the or each hot-air module 6. Such apparatus may, for example, take the form of divider sheets 12. To facilitate the introduction of the thread Y into the hot-air module 6, it may be furthermore provided according to the invention that two rows of rollers 9, 10 facing each other are arranged in the or each hot-air module 6, at least the rollers 10 of one row being arranged in the direction of the rollers 9 of the other row and movable beyond these so that a meander-shaped arrangement of the thread Y can be achieved automatically in the hot-air modules 6.

  • Patent number: 4719946
Abstract: For the production of a tubular woven fabric having a floats-including weave, by using a circular loom, at least two shuttles are moved through sheds formed by warp threads. The warp threads are guided through thread eyes of thread guiding organs and are lifted and lowered by the thread guiding organs to form the shed. In order to be able to produce tubular woven fabrics of different types of floats-including weaves, free warp threads, i.e., warp threads that are loosely guided through between thread guiding organs carrying neighboring warp threads, additionally run between warp threads guided by the thread guiding organs. These loose warp threads cross the opened shed approximately in the middle thereof and are lifted by a guide means arranged on at least one shuttle and, as the method proceeds, are lowered by a guide means arranged on at least one shuttle.
