  • Patent number: 6907061
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for use in controlling the emission power of a transceiver which is in communication with another transceiver via a communication system, said method including the steps of measuring the amplitude or the power of the signal received by said transceiver and of evaluating a power control command which is then used to command the emission power of said transceiver according to said control command signal. According to the invention, the method includes the steps of evaluating the fast fading duration of the received signal on basis of said amplitude or power measurement and of deducing the power control command from said fast fading duration.

  • Patent number: 6661854
Abstract: A method of estimating qualities of a transmission or telecommunications channel involves using a pair of complementary sequences s(n) and g(n), with n=0, 1, . . . , N−1, which have the property that the sum of their auto-correlations is a perfect Dirac function (that is, &PHgr;s,s(n)+&PHgr;g,g(n)=k·&dgr;(n)). A composite signal made up of two complementary sequences s(n) and g(n) is used, after having time multiplexed these two sequences in such a way as to exploit the property &PHgr;s,s(n)=&PHgr;g,g(n)=k·&dgr;(n). The composite signal is made up of two sequences which are concatenated with, between them, a guard interval of a duration greater than or equal to the length of the impulse response of the channel to be estimated.

  • Patent number: 6618428
Abstract: Method for transmitting an information representative of the number of spreading codes allocated to the mobile stations in communication with a base station of a mobile telecommunication system. The method forms a word to be transmitted, the content of which is representative of the number of spreading codes allocated. In each transmission burst a general midamble resulting from the sum of selected midambles among all the available midambles is included. The selection is done by the base station in relation with the transmitted word so that a selected midamble corresponds to a binary element of the transmitted word equal to a first value and a non-selected midamble corresponds to a binary element of the transmitted word equal to a second value. A received word is considered, the elements of which are in a one-to-one relationship with the temporal positions of the estimations respectively corresponding to the available midambles.
