  • Patent number: 5174206
Abstract: Pressure cylinder for a printing machine equipped with air-conditioning and oil lubrication, the receiving shaft of a flexible cylinder casing being made hollow and at its respective ends having an inflow and an outflow for a cooling fluid, the receiving shaft passing furthermore through a chamber which forms an oil reservoir, the reservoir receiving the flexible cylinder casing rotatably, with ball bearings interposed, and this reservoir possessing on its underside orifices for the discharge of the oil and on its topside feed orifices cooperating with plates which extend radially into the immediate vicinity of the inner circumference of the flexible cylinder casing.

  • Patent number: 4913051
Abstract: A roll which can be used in conjunction with the printing cylinder in a rotary printing press to define a nip for the running web of paper or other material which is to be provided with printed matter has a shaft which is surrounded by a deformable hollow cylindrical shell. The ends of the shell are mounted on antifriction bearings which surround the shaft, and the intermediate portions of the shell can be deformed, to conform to the outlines of adjacent portions of the printing cylinder, by inflatable plenum chambers which are installed in sleeves surrounding the shaft so that each plenum chamber bears against the shaft and urges the respective sleeve radially of the shell. Additional antifriction bearings are installed between the internal surface of the shell and the ends of the sleeves which flank a larger-diameter central portion of the shaft. The shaft has a metallic tube with a set of longitudinally extending internal reinforcing ribs.

  • Patent number: 4612692
Abstract: A pressure cylinder in which an outer tubular roll is rotatably supported at its ends by a central shaft passing therethrough. The central portion of the shaft engages with radial play in a tubular bush disposed within the outer roll and rotatably supported thereon. A bladder having a variable volume is interposed between the bush and the shaft and extends circumferentially about the shaft over an arc less than 180.degree..

  • Patent number: 4510865
Abstract: A gravure pressure roller with an axis of variable shape, in which the outer jacket (2), rotated coaxially to and inside the jacket (2) of the roller by the shaft (3), is supported at its ends by bearings (10) and at the mid-part by levers (21) coupled in an articulated manner to the mid-part of the shaft (3), so as to be in contact with the inner surface (7) of the jacket (2), contacting the same with the intercalation of bearings (22) and actuators (15) inserted between the shaft (3) and each lever (21).

  • Patent number: 4477954
Abstract: A pressure roller (1) with longitudinal axis of variable shape, in which an outer jacket (2) is supported in central position by an inner shaft (3) running essentially coaxially to the said jacket (2) in effective contact with ball bearings (5) carried in turn by the said shaft (3), whose end bushings 8 support the said jacket (2) by means of further ball bushings (10), one at each end; each round bushing (8) being so arranged that they are adjustable with respect to an eccentric journal (6) fixed to the corresponding end of the inner shaft (3) and eccentric to the said shaft.
