Abstract: Systems and methods for modifying application performance in view of link conditions are provided. An example method includes predicting respective link rates of at least one link of a plurality of links that deliver data to and from a vehicle while the vehicle is moving from an origination point to a destination point. The predicting is based on historical link characteristics. The method further includes generating a link service profile of the vehicle based on the predicted respective link rates and a route of the vehicle. In addition, the method includes receiving a request for information related to the link service profile from a mobile device and transmitting, to the mobile device, an indication based on the link service profile, thereby causing a modification of a behavior of an application executing at the mobile device based on the link service profile.

Upon association, subsequent captivity probes transmitted by the client device may be detected and handled so as to prevent undesired re-launching of the captive browser at the client device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for opportunistic load balancing across one or more communication links supported by one or more base stations. As part of the opportunistic load balancing process, a load balancer may measure a performance metric and an idle capacity metric for the one or more communication links. In some embodiments, the load balancer may directionally measure the performance metric and the idle capacity metric. Based on the measured metrics, the load balancer may determine a candidate base station for a network socket. The load balancer may then establish the network socket with the candidate base station. As a result, the load balancer may help alleviate network congestion.

Each content-delivery system is capable of delivering received content to end-users and implementing a key-management scheme to facilitate secure content-delivery and usage tracking, even when the content-delivery system is disconnected from the data center. In other words, the disclosed systems and methods facilitate the operation of nodes which may operate in “autonomous mode” when disconnected from a larger content-delivery network, thus maintaining content-delivery capabilities despite having little if any connectivity to external networks.

Abstract: The Automated Content Upload System networks a plurality of aircraft together when they are parked at the gates of an airport. Communications among the aircraft are guided by a Content Manager, resident at or near the airport, which maintains data representative of InFlight Entertainment Content presently stored on each aircraft and the list of scheduled InFlight Entertainment Content available on each aircraft. The Content Manager guides the exchange of InFlight Entertainment Content among the aircraft, as well as from the Content Manager to the aircraft, to automatically distribute InFlight Entertainment Content to the aircraft efficiently and timely. This process includes the ability to multicast data from the Content Manager to multiple aircraft in a single transmission, obtaining content delivery efficiency, populating multiple aircraft via a single transmission from the Content Manager.

As part of the bandwidth optimization techniques, an authentication entity may receive an indication of an access profile selected by a user of an electronic device. The authentication entity may assign the access profile to the electronic device. Accordingly, when the electronic device transmits data, a network regulation entity may process the traffic in accordance with the access profile. To this end, the network regulation entity may correspond communication sessions within the traffic to an application. The network regulation entity may then query the access profile to determine a priority for each application. When the traffic exceeds a threshold byte volume, the network regulation entity may queue lower priority communication sessions. By processing the traffic based upon a user-indicated access profile, compliance with network neutrality principles may be maintained.
