  • Publication number: 20220168137
Abstract: An orthotic device includes an orthotic appliance formed by at least two laminate layers and a heating apparatus including a heating element embedded between the at least two layers of the orthotic appliance. The heating apparatus further includes a power supply operatively coupled to the heating element. The heating element selectively heats the orthotic appliance. The heating element includes a wireless receiving coil. The power supply includes a wireless charging transceiver such that when power is supplied to the wireless charging transceiver, a current is induced within the wireless receiving coil to supply power to the heating element.

  • Publication number: 20220054305
Abstract: A heat sleeve for selectively heating a residual limb of an amputee is provided. The heat sleeve includes a first sock member having an open proximal end, a distal end and a continuous side wall, all defining an open interior area configured to receive the residual limb therein. A temperature regulating apparatus includes a thermal adjustment element adapted to be mounted onto an exterior surface of the first sock member proximate the distal end, and a power supply operatively coupled to the thermal adjustment element. When the power supply is in its ON orientation and providing power to the thermal adjustment element, the thermal adjustment element selectively heats the residual limb within the first sock. A second sock member may then receive the residual limb, the first sock member and the flexible heating element therein.

  • Publication number: 20210369498
Abstract: A temperature regulating socket apparatus for selectively heating or cooling a residual limb of an amputee is provided. The temperature regulating socket apparatus includes a socket having a brim, a distal end and a continuous side wall, all defining an open interior area for receiving the residual limb therein and a temperature regulating apparatus. The temperature regulating apparatus includes a thermal adjustment element embedded within the socket side wall; a temperature control unit operatively coupled to the thermal adjustment element; and a power supply operatively coupled to the temperature control unit. When the power supply is in its ON orientation the temperature control unit is powered so that the temperature control unit regulates the temperature of the thermal adjustment element to selectively heat or cool the residual limb within the socket.

  • Patent number: 10243651
Abstract: A mesh receiver, computer readable storage medium and method for a very small aperture terminal (VSAT) performing communications in a satellite-based network. The mesh receiver includes a receiver that receives a plurality of TDMA mesh carriers simultaneously in the network in plural channels. The mesh carriers have a transmitted frequency, transmitted gain, and transmitted timing that is unknown to the mesh receiver. The mesh receiver also includes circuitry configured to blindly derive gain, frequency, and timing values from the received mesh carriers, and a demodulator that demodulates the received TDMA mesh carriers and generates demodulated bursts for packets of the communications based on the blindly derived gain, frequency, and timing values.

  • Patent number: 9610178
Abstract: A prosthetic limb heating apparatus for use with a prosthetic assembly includes a housing having a side wall that defines open upper and lower ends. The upper end is configured to receive an upper limb portion and prosthetic socket into the housing. The open lower end is configured to allow the upper limb portion to pass therethrough but not the prosthetic socket such that the prosthetic socket is nested in the interior area. An electrically conductive wire is situated on the housing and extends circuitously thereabout, the conductive wire having opposed first and second ends. A battery is coupled to the side wall of the housing and electrically connected to the first and second ends of the conductive wire so as to selectively energize the conductive wire. The conductive wire imparts heat to the prosthetic socket when the socket is nested within the housing and the conductive wire is energized.

Abstract: A prosthetic limb heating apparatus for use with a prosthetic assembly includes a sleeve having a side wall that defines open upper and lower ends. The upper end is configured to receive an upper limb portion and prosthetic liner into the sleeve. The open lower end is configured to allow the upper limb portion to pass therethrough but not the prosthetic liner such that the prosthetic liner is nested in the interior area. An electrically conductive wire is situated on the sleeve and extends circuitously thereabout, the conductive wire having opposed first and second ends. A battery is coupled to the side wall of the sleeve and electrically connected to the first and second ends of the conductive wire so as to selectively energize the conductive wire. The conductive wire imparts heat to the prosthetic liner when the liner is nested within the sleeve and the conductive wire is energized.
