    Abstract: A bottom hole assembly comprising a hydraulic setting tool, a frac plug, and usually also an adapter for connecting the frac plug to the setting tool. The setting tool, adapter, and frac plug, all include continuous flow passages that allow fluid to be circulated in the well ahead of the plug as the bottom hole assembly is advanced. This removes debris present in the well and prevents the frac plug from becoming lodged in the well in other than the desired location. The setting tool includes a bypass feature that signals reliably when the plug has been successfully deployed. The bypass assembly comprises sliding members with bypass ports that can become aligned only when the collar on the frac plug has advanced far enough to ensure complete deployment of the frac plug.

    Abstract: A fluid cutting tool and method for perforating or severing tubular members from inside. The tool is especially suited for use with a rotational drive system, such as a downhole motor, to separate downhole structures, such as stuck production tubing. The cutting tool preferably takes the form of an elongate metal body with an open first end connectable to the end of a downhole motor. The downhole end of the tool may be conical. A fluid conduit within the body of the tool communicates with the fluid channel in the downhole motor. Ports in the sides of the tool body direct jets of cutting fluid out the side of the tool. The tool attached to the motor is fed downhole until the tool is at the desired location in the well. Then the motor is operated to rotate the tool while cutting fluid is pumped through it. This causes the jets of fluid to be directed at the inner surface of the production tubing (or other tubular structure). This process is continued until the tubing is perforated or severed, as needed.

    Abstract: A rotary device, such as a downhole motor, with a rotary wave seal assembly. The seal assembly is formed by a sinuous or non-linear circumferential gland or groove and an annular seal member, such as an O-ring, supported in the groove. The device further includes at least one thrust bearing assembly for transmitting axial pressure from the bearing housing to the drive shaft. Each thrust bearing comprises a self-lubricating thrust washer as the bearing element. Still further, where the rotary device comprises two coaxial tubular structures that are not to rotate relative to each other, an anti-rotation means is provided. The anti-rotation means includes a cylindrical pin received in mating longitudinal, radiused grooves in the outer wall of the innermost elongate member and the inner wall of the outermost tubular member. The anti-rotation means includes a cylindrical pin received in the mating longitudinal grooves.
