  • Patent number: 10071785
Abstract: System, method, and assembly for controlling a vehicle. In one example, the system includes a first suspension system and a first controller. The first controller is configured to receive an input signal representing vehicle operating parameters. The first controller is also configured to receive a first target displacement determined by a second controller for a second suspension system of the vehicle. The first controller is further configured to determine a second target displacement for the first suspension system of the vehicle based on the first target displacement and the input signal. The first controller is also configured to set a height of the first suspension system based on the second target displacement.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 2016
Date of Patent: September 11, 2018
Assignee: Harley-Davidson Motor Company Group, LLC
Inventors: Brian Ginther, Joseph P. Lomonaco, Maxim Kolesnikov, Bryan Fulmer

  • Patent number: 9428242
Abstract: Actuator assemblies and methods and systems for using the same. One actuator assembly includes an actuator, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive a command signal from a vehicle electronic control unit, receive a data signal from a sensor, determine a control signal for the actuator based on the command signal from the vehicle electronic control unit and the data signal from the sensor, transmit the control signal to the actuator, determine a status signal based on the control signal, and transmit the status signal to the vehicle electronic control unit.

  • Patent number: 8511717
Abstract: A hydraulic manifold assembly having a block including a plurality of fluid ports provided on a common surface of the block, and a set of hydraulic fittings. Each fitting is assigned to a prescribed one of the ports. Each fitting includes a hollow bolt insertable into the prescribed fluid port, and a banjo block having a first aperture for receiving the hollow bolt and a second aperture intersecting the first aperture. The second aperture provides an external fluid port for fluidly coupling a remote device. The plurality of banjo blocks includes at least one adjacent pair of banjo blocks that are unique from each other and have exterior shapes complementary to each other to control the relative orientation therebetween when coupled to the prescribed fluid ports. The exterior shapes of the adjacent banjo blocks cooperate to prevent misassembly.

  • Publication number: 20050156464
Abstract: The invention provides a method for controlling a vehicle with a braking system including a modulator pump. A first fluid line can communicate brake fluid from the master cylinder to a brake caliper. An isolation valve including a pressure bypass can be disposed along the fluid line between the master cylinder and the brake caliper. A second fluid line can extend from a first position along the first fluid line between the master cylinder and the isolation valve to a second position along the first fluid line between the isolation valve and the brake caliper. A modulating pump is disposed along the second fluid line to pump fluid to the brake caliper during a controlled brake event. The modulator pump is engaged to pump fluid to the brake caliper until the pressure in the first fluid line reached slightly below the predetermined pressure to prevent the isolation valve from opening in response to excessive pressure.
