    Abstract: An on board system for determination of slant range to a ground impact point of a ballistic vehicle. The system utilizes two infrared sensors viewing the ground at a very small divergent angle with respect to each other. The off axis displacement angle is small enough to enable viewing of infrared landmarks at low approach angles. The system utilizes a correlator to measure time delay between successive sensings of ground landmarks and slant range is computed without necessity of knowledge of any of the angles involved.
