Abstract: A method of obtaining location information from at least one mobile communication device (2) in a system (100) for mobile communication comprising a central unit (1) capable of communicating with the mobile communication device, the method comprising the steps of: the mobile communication device repeatedly monitoring the identification of the current cell (3), the mobile communication device, upon detecting a change of the current cell, sending a location message to the central unit, the location message containing the identification of the new cell (3?), the central unit registering the location message together with its time of receipt, the central unit determining the location of the mobile unit based upon the registered location messages, times of receipt and predeterminded cell data.
