Publication number: 20230302848Abstract: A forked linkage includes a forked end and a control end. An axially translatable spline coupling is supported and carried by the forked end. A pivot is between the forked end and the control end. A cam is configured to interact with the control end of the forked linkage. The cam includes a profile that defines an axial position of the spline coupling relative to an angular position of the cam. A bias biases the control end towards the cam.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2023Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Bryan M. Averill, Craig Feusse, Russell Conine, Bryce Gould

Publication number: 20230256837Abstract: In general, this disclosure relates to a system and method of control for driveline actuators (DLAs) in the powertrain of an electric vehicle to perform shifting between two-wheel drive (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) configurations. Sequential and overlapping shift process is used. The first disconnect is instructed by a vehicle control system to begin its shift, which takes approximately 100 milliseconds to complete. A short period of time after the first disconnect is instructed to begin its shift, but before it has completed the shift, the second disconnect is instructed to begin.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2023Publication date: August 17, 2023Inventors: Bryan M. Patent number: 9091307Abstract: A pulse vacuum hub lock system for selectively engaging a wheel hub to an axial shaft includes a cartridge housing assembly received in a bore in the wheel hub. The cartridge housing assembly supports a clutch ring for movable engagement between splines in the wheel hub and directly on the axle shaft. A diaphragm is connected to a piston assembly and is responsive to a vacuum pressure to activate the piston assembly to engage or disengage a latch mechanism that holds the clutch ring in an engaged or disengaged position. A piston spring and a helper spring are provided between primary and secondary pistons of the piston assembly and allow for separation in the vacuum levels required to activate the latch mechanism. The vacuum hub lock system is compact so as to be disposed inboard of an opening in the exterior surface of a wheel rim.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2014Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: Warn Industries, Inc.Inventors: Craig Feusse, Adrian Simula, Bryan M.
