Abstract: A system and method for creating cryptographically secure tokens and using them to allocate commodities are disclosed. Various servers in communication with one another cause a system to receive a quantity of the commodity or a representation of the quantity of the commodity from one or more autonomous agent computing devices; create one token for each unit in the quantity of the commodity; track the use of created tokens and determine a likelihood that each created token will be exchanged for a unit of the commodity in a particular future time window; ensure that, with a predetermined confidence level, an amount of the commodity exceeding expected exchanges in the particular future time window will be made available by the one or more backup servers; and in response to receiving a request to exchange tokens for the commodity, providing a unit of the commodity for each token exchanged.
