  • Publication number: 20240083436
Abstract: A method for controlling brake pressure during a shift of a vehicle out of park may include determining that a first status condition is met when the vehicle is in park with an electric parking brake applied, determining that a second status condition is met when the vehicle is not moving, responsive to detecting a shift of the vehicle out of park when the first and second status conditions are both met, directing a build-up of brake pressure until a brake pressure target is reached, and holding the brake pressure at the brake pressure target until a release condition is met.

  • Patent number: 10296016
Abstract: This invention provides, in various embodiments, a variable frequency drive system for controlling a pump driven by a variable frequency electric motor, with the pump in fluid communication with a fluid system. The drive system of this invention improves the efficiency of the prior variable frequency drive systems by inserting into the memory of the variable frequency drive the maximum flow required for the particular flow system in which the pump is operating and adding an initial pump starting module that limits the initial starting flow rate from the pump to the desired maximum flow rate for the system, which is separately calculated.

  • Patent number: 9804901
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method receives a software upgrade package for a management computer and main computer. The management computer upgrades software of the management computer using the software upgrade package where the upgrading replaces an image of the software of the management computer with an image from the software upgrade package. Upon upgrade of the management computer, the management computer initiates an upgrade of the main computer. The main computer withdraws use of the services, and upon the withdrawing, the management computer reboots the main computer. Then, the main computer upgrades software of the main computer using the software upgrade package upon rebooting where the upgrading replaces an image of the software of the main computer with an image from the software upgrade package. Upon the upgrading, the main computer restores the use of the services.

  • Patent number: 9507566
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method generates first entropy using a true random number generator in a management computer configured to manage a main computer in a computing device. The main computer controls a set of physical nodes including a set of services running in a set of virtual machines. The method then provides the first entropy to the main computer and the first entropy is combined with second entropy generated by the main computer to generate third entropy. The third entropy is provided to the set of physical nodes where the set of virtual machines access the third entropy via a hypervisor.

  • Publication number: 20060282121
Abstract: Intractable hiccups are debilitating and are usually a result of underlying disease. A method of treating chronic hiccups is provided, comprising the steps of applying a peripheral nerve stimulator to the vagus nerve at a predetermined frequency, pulse width, amplitude, and duration; monitoring the occurrence of hiccups in response to said stimulation; and adjusting said frequency, pulse width, amplitude, and duration to reduce the occurrence of said hiccups. The vagus nerve stimulation methods disclosed herein have provided complete resolution to date with a patient with intractable hiccups occurring after a posterior fossa stroke.

  • Publication number: 20060247942
Abstract: A system and method are provided for facilitating the allocation support resources. One or more information handling systems are provided to analyze data obtained elsewhere. The information can be displayed in a plot of time and history timeline, with specific types of problems indicated by color. If the same type of problem is encountered at nearly the same time, regions or sub-regions of like-colored data will appear and become evident to the user. The user can then select the regions or sub-regions in question and perform additional analysis to determine the underlying cause of the various problems so that maintenance and support services can be allocated in a pro-active manner to preclude future problems, or additional resources assigned to combat the existing problems.

  • Patent number: 4359302
Abstract: An apparatus and method for cutting wallboards, such as gypsum wallboards or rock wallboards to an appropriate size and shape, and for locating utility boxes hidden behind a panelled wall and cutting of a section of the wall at the opening of the utility boxes. The apparatus of the invention comprises a portable hand tool having an adjustable rest for adjusting the depth of cut and a built-in ruler-guide arrangement permitting to cut parallel to a side of a wallboard or permitting to cut circles in a wallboard. The hand tool may be used in combination with a separate locator and cut-out template member positioned in utility boxes mounted behind an installed wall, which provides an indication of the location of each utility box by way of a wallboard puncturing prong, for cutting out an opening in the wallboard, following appropriate guide grooves in the face of the locator and cut-out template.
