Patent number: 11922618Abstract: Methods and system for guiding user data capture during a scan of a vehicle using a mobile device are disclosed. A user may scan a vehicle using a camera or other sensors of the mobile device to capture data from which a three-dimensional virtual model may be generated. During the scanning process, models may be generated and evaluated according to quality metrics. Visual cues may be determined and presented to the user during scanning to indicate areas sufficiently scanned or areas requiring additional scanning to meet data quality requirements for model generation. Damage to vehicle components may be identified by analysis of the generated model, and addition data capture or user annotation entry may be directed based upon the identified damage.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2022Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Bryan R. Patent number: 11887196Abstract: This application discloses methods, systems, and computer-implemented virtualization software applications and computer-implemented graphical user interface tools for remote virtual visualization of structures. Images are captured by an imaging vehicle of a structure and the captured images are transmitted to a remote server via a communication network. Using virtual 3D digital modeling software the server, using the images received from the imaging vehicle, generates a virtual 3D digital model of the structure and stores it in a database. This virtual 3D digital model can be accessed by remote users, using virtualization software applications, and used to view images of the structure. The user is able to manipulate the images and to view them from various perspectives and compare the before-the-damage images with images taken after damage have occurred. Based on all this the user is enabled to remotely communicate with an insurance agent and/or file an insurance claim.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2022Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Bryan R. Patent number: 11875309Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating virtual collaboration between users within virtual environments are disclosed. A plurality of users access a collaborative virtual environment system at various times using interface devices to establish an asynchronous virtual collaboration session in which users collaborate in real-time and/or asynchronously. To enable asynchronous collaboration, data from virtual collaboration session is stored and presented to later users, including user movements and interactions with the environment, user annotation, and audio communications or comments. Other users may then access the data at a later time, and later user interactions, annotations, and audio may likewise be stored for further review by other users.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2023Date of Patent: January 16, 2024Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Rebecca A. Publication number: 20240013640Abstract: The present embodiments relate to identifying property intrusion events based upon sensor data received from smart devices populated about a home. A smart home controller may compare the sensor data to baseline sensor data to dynamically identify an intrusion event that may be occurring. The controller may generate a notification and determine an action to perform to facilitate damage or risk mitigation. Accordingly, an individual associated with the home may be notified of the event, and then select to perform the action, such as via their mobile device. In some implementations, the controller may automatically perform the action. As a result, in response to computer identification of an intrusion event, corrective action may be taken or prompted, or otherwise any damage caused by the intrusion event may be mitigated, reducing insurance claims or claim amounts associated with intrusion events. Insurance discounts may be provided based upon the risk mitigation functionality.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2021Publication date: January 11, 2024Inventors: Jackie O. Publication number: 20230419428Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to display a dwelling's selling features on a mobile computing device as a user walks through a home. One or more transmitters may be positioned throughout a dwelling. When the mobile computing device is within a threshold range of a transmitter, the mobile computing device may send data identifying the transmitter to back end components. The back end components may correlate the identifying data with selling features associated with that dwelling location. The mobile computing device may receive this information from the one or more back end components and display the selling features. Other methods are also provided to trigger information to be displayed implementing geofences and near field communications (NFC). User feedback may be solicited and stored as part of a user profile, which may be used for marketing, advertising, to calculate homeowners insurance premium or home loan quotes, handle insurance claims, or other suitable purposes.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2020Publication date: December 28, 2023Inventors: Joseph P. Harr, Andrea Lee Rhoades, Katherine Blaine Carragher, Shawn M. Call, Bryan R. Nussbaum

Patent number: 11815864Abstract: Methods and systems that manage building code compliance are provided. A smart or interconnected home may be populated with multiple smart or other devices that are in wired or wireless communication with a central controller. The smart devices may be covered by an insurance policy, such as a homeowners, renters, or personal articles insurance policy. The controller may receive building code compliance information associated with the smart devices, and may update an inventory list to include the building code compliance information. Patent number: 11810202Abstract: Methods and systems for developing virtual models and assessing a condition of a feature of a modeled property within a virtual environment are described herein. A server may receive a data request from a user electronic device. The data request may comprise a property of interest located in an overall region. The server may then dynamically acquire a virtual model for rendering the property within a virtual environment at the user electronic device based on the data request. The server may then determine to assess a condition of the feature associated with the property represented in the virtual model in accordance with rules. The condition of the feature is relevant to assessing risks associated with the one or more properties. The server may subsequently obtain an assessment of the condition associated with the feature of the property based on a representation of the condition within the virtual environment.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2018Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Rebecca A Little, Bryan R Nussbaum, Deanna L Stockweather, Nathan C Summers, An Ho, Vicki King

Publication number: 20230251610Abstract: The present embodiments relate to managing the operation of devices within a home or other property based upon electrical usage data. With customer knowledge or consent, a home controller may retrieve and analyze electrical usage data corresponding to a device, such as by comparing it to certain threshold data. If the analysis results in a trigger condition, the controller may generate a command, and transmit the command to the device for implementation, allowing modification of device operation to address any issues indicated in the electrical usage data. In some implementations, the controller may notify a home owner/occupant. As a result, faulty devices may be managed prior to their faults causing damage to the device and/or the property, and/or property owners may be timely prompted to investigate, repair, and/or replace a failing device. Insurance discounts may be provided based upon the risk mitigation/prevention functionality.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2023Publication date: August 10, 2023Inventors: Jackie O.
