Patent number: 8899939Abstract: Process for producing a ceramic composite structure includes impregnating a reinforcing material with a suitable precursor slurry composition including thermosetting resin, a suitable curing agent, a ceramic component, a carbonaceous solids component, and optionally, a suitable solvent. Exemplary thermosetting resins include polyesters, vinyl esters, epoxy resins, bismaleimide resins, and polyimide resins. The carbonaceous solids component provides a suitable amount of carbon char upon pyrolization. The preform may be dried prior to curing to remove solvents and thereby provide a working material comprising up to 70 volume % solids. The preform is cured, pyrolized, and infiltrated with molten silicon to form a composite article. The thermosetting resin is selected for processibility, green strength, and relatively fast cure cycle.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2010Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Paul Stephen Manicke, Bryant Edward Walker, Warren Rosal Ronk

Patent number: 4934554Abstract: A tamper-evident lid for use with containers includes a surface to cover the container, and downward projections around the periphery of the surface which surrounds the mouth of said container. An interrupted ring is frangibly attached to the downward projections. A plurality of tamper-evident hooks are affixed to said ring. The hooks are visible through openings in the downward projections. The hooks engage the container, but when the lid is removed, the ring fractures away from the downward projection ring and the tampering with the package is apparent. In the preferred embodiment, a bead on the lid engages the sidewall of the container to provide a resealable, airtight seal.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1988Date of Patent: June 19, 1990Assignee: Bryant EdwardsInventor: Bryant Edwards

Patent number: 4874367Abstract: A hypodermic jet injector includes a resuable, spring-powered gun and a disposable unitary cartridge filled with a substance to be injected. The unitary cartridge has an interrupted flange which cooperates with a shoulder on the gun to releasably affix the cartridge to the end of the gun for use. A predetermined amount of sterile medicament is readily injected from the sterile end of the cartridge without the need to sterilize the gun. This is particularly useful for self-administration of drugs and medicines by the patient.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1988Date of Patent: October 17, 1989Assignee: Marpam International, Inc.Inventor: Bryant Edwards

Patent number: 4787530Abstract: A tamper-evident lid for use with containers includes a surface to cover the container, and downward projections around the periphery of the surface which surround the mouth of said container. A continuous ring is affixed to the downward projections. A plurality of tamper-evident hooks are frangibly attached to said ring. The hooks are visible through openings in the downward projections. The hooks engage the container, but when the lid is removed, the hooks fracture away from the ring and the tampering with the package is apparent. In the preferred embodiment, a bead on the lid engages the sidewall of the container to provide a resealable, airtight seal.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1987Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Inventor: Bryant Edwards
