  • Publication number: 20080001707
Abstract: An authorization device includes a transponder and antenna. Transmission prompts are received by the antenna and sent to the transponder. The transponder will then emit an identification signal utilized to verify and provide access to a locking device. The antenna is selectively connected to the transponder to control receipt of the transmission prompt. The example authorization device controls receipt of transmission prompts by a transponder to prevent unauthorized and undesired receipt and thereby transmission of identification and other signals.

  • Publication number: 20080001706
Abstract: A proximity lock is battery powered and includes an infrared (IR) circuit for detecting the presence of an authentication device and a radio frequency (RF) circuit for communicating with the authentication device. RF signals emitted from an RF circuit are received by an antenna within the authentication device. An IR signal recognizes the presence of the authentication device and prompts the RF circuit to communicate with the authentication device.

  • Publication number: 20070163863
Abstract: An electronic lock includes a keycard sensing assembly which interacts with a keycard sensing switch surface mounted to a circuit board. The keycard sensing assembly is located adjacent a rear of a keycard slot such that when a key card is fully inserted into the keycard slot, the keycard activates the keycard sensing assembly. Such an arrangement permits a significant portion of the circuit board to be potted within a potting compound such that the keycard reader becomes essentially waterproof. Such a construction permits the insertion of a wet or damp keycard without concern for water damage to the keycard sensing assembly.

  • Publication number: 20060203471
Abstract: A door handle device includes pathway lighting to illuminate a pathway when needed, such as during a power outage, fire, or other emergency. The pathway lighting includes at least one light source, such as a super-bright LED or other low current/power light source, that is mounted to a door and that is bright enough to illuminate a pathway. Power for the light source may be provided by an internal power source that is used to power other components (e.g., a lock, a key card reader, etc.) within the door handle device. The pathway lighting acts as a backup or supplemental light source when needed to guide people toward a desired location. The pathway lighting may also act as an interior light.
