  • Publication number: 20060205514
Abstract: Gaming machines and systems having MRAM and MROM are disclosed. MROMs for storing boot programs and other Read Only code are formed by cutting write connections or not providing PCB socket leads to MRAM write pins, or by using memory hubs to prevent writing to MRAMs. A tale-tale board or other logging device monitoring activities at various components while primary machine power is down records to MRAM, which can be dual ported to the logging device and MGC. Various components can each have dedicated logging devices and MRAMs. One MRAM associated with the brain box replaces both DRAM and NVRAM of regular machine architectures, and is used for dual purposes of regular operational use and as safe storage to facilitate a state recovery. Prioritization of data during the storage process is rendered unnecessary. Another MRAM associated with the back plane board stores data associated with the exterior housing or terminal.

  • Publication number: 20060111168
Abstract: The present invention provides a gaming machine that can play both Class II and Class III games. Some implementations provide a gaming machine that has certain features (e.g., a true random number generator or “RNG”) enabled for Class III play and disabled for Class II play. Some aspects of the invention provide methods for determining when a Class III game is available. Other aspects of the invention allow a player to “line up” for a desired Class III game while playing another game, such as a Class II game or another Class III game, on the same gaming machine until the desired Class III game is available. Some such implementations grant higher priority to certain players according to their gaming history, e.g., as indicated by player tracking/player loyalty data. Alternative aspects of the invention allocate available Class III games in other ways, e.g., by playing a Class II game for a chance to play a Class III game, by lottery, or otherwise.

  • Publication number: 20060061050
Abstract: Lightweight inexpensive sleds, made of tough plastic or similar material, are disclosed for transporting injured people or inert loads. For ultra-light sleds, a rope or strap is passed through a hole in the sled and affixed directly to a load (e.g., firewood, a deer carcass, etc.). This imposes forces on the load, while merely keeping the sled beneath the load that is being dragged. For rescue sleds, a strong strap is passed through slots around the periphery. This distributes forces in ways that avoid tearing, and it provides secure handholds, allowing people to lift and carry an injured person in a manner comparable to a backboard. A rescue sled including straps weighs only about 6 pounds, and can be carried on foot for miles, affixed to a backpack, making these sleds available immediately when needed.

  • Publication number: 20060049624
Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting counterfeit cashless instruments are disclosed. A pattern of attempted redemptions or other transactional recordings of gaming machine printed tickets, vouchers or other cashless instruments having identification numbers with valid predictable fields but invalid unpredictable fields can indicate a likely counterfeiting attempt or operation. Occurrences can include a thief or other unscrupulous party discovering which gaming machine printed ticket fields lend themselves to prediction and which do not, and then attempting to guess at some of the randomly generated numbers in hopes of coming up with a valid number or number set. In addition, stored hash numbers can be compared to a hash number generated according to a one-way hash function. A pattern of invalid hash numbers can also indicate a likely counterfeit attempt.
