Patent number: 10519744Abstract: An isolation valve system, method, and apparatus are provided that can isolate a wellbore and prevent fluids from exiting the well and prevent seawater from entering the well. The system can be a two-part design in some embodiments where a shear sub is selectively interconnected to a body via shearing screws. A sufficient force on the shear sub destroys the shearing screws and the shear sub is removed from the body. This movement rotates an actuator on the body, which in turn rotates a valve in the body to provide the isolating function during routine operation of a wellbore or during an emergency.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2016Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Inventor: Bryce Elliott Randle

Publication number: 20190195038Abstract: A riser system is provided to eliminate the consequences associated with damage to the annular system while also maintaining the availability of critical safety systems. The riser system may comprise a customizable control housing and external seal control subs that facilitate reciprocation and rotation of a drillpipe or workstring while eliminating damage to the upper annular blow out preventer and allowing the upper annular blow out preventer to function as intended.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2018Publication date: June 27, 2019Inventor: Bryce Elliott Randle

Patent number: 10280713Abstract: Various systems, methods, and devices are disclosed for handling contaminants in a wellbore or riser. A washpipe debris trap (WPDT) traps contaminants traveling up a wellbore from a downhole location, and the WPDT may serve as an indicator for a breached screen in a downhole location. A marine riser reversing tool (MRRT) may reverse the flow of fluid between a workstring conduit and an annulus between the workstring and the wellbore such that fluid rises to the wellhead with greater velocity. A bi-directional chamber trap (BDCT) may be utilized in a wellbore operation to remove contaminants from a fluid.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2015Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: Spoked Solutions LLCInventors: Bryce Elliott Randle, Ronald Emerson Burger, Jr.

Publication number: 20190093471Abstract: An apparatus, system and/or method for making observations down a wellbore are provided. The wellbore observation system may comprise a mandrel that can be run downhole, and telescoping tracks can be utilized to move a camera and semi-conforming inflatable bladder out of the mandrel and into the wellbore. Once the bladder is inflated, it displaces high turbidity fluid in the wellbore to allow the camera to move about a track and observe the wellbore unobstructed. An alternative embodiment allows the mandrel and telescoping tracks to be utilized with other tools to perform cleaning, fishing, diagnostic, and analytic operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2018Publication date: March 28, 2019Inventors: Bryce Elliott Randle, Shane Joseph Triche, Heath Lawrence Triche

Publication number: 20180306012Abstract: A lube and bleed casing adapter and related systems and methods are provided for a lubricate and bleed operation in a wellbore where heavy fluids are directly deposited downwell. The casing adapter allows a hose to be positioned downwell and to be operably connected to a tank of heavy fluid. Once, the heavy fluid is deposited, the casing adapter receives lighter fluids from the wellbore, and the casing adapter is operably connected to a return tank that stores lighter fluids. As a result, the casing adapter and related systems and methods save time as the heavy fluid does not need to sink downwell before the lighter fluid rises upward.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2018Publication date: October 25, 2018Inventor: Bryce Elliott Randle

Publication number: 20180010426Abstract: A device, system, and/or method for hanging a casing in a borehole operation are provided. A gripping feature may be included on an inner surface of a larger casing. Then, a smaller casing is positioned within the larger casing, and the outer diameter of the smaller casing or the hanging mechanism is expanded to contact the larger casing's gripping feature. The result is a secure engagement between the two casings. This gripping feature may comprise grooves cut into the inner surface of the larger casing wherein the grooves may have a groove density, an uphole groove angle, a downhole groove, an orientation, and other features that improve the engagement between the two casings.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2016Publication date: January 11, 2018Inventor: Bryce Elliott RANDLE

Publication number: 20170362913Abstract: A device, system and method are provided for using a seal sub to isolate a well. The seal sub generally has a primary channel extending through the seal sub and seat positioned within the primary channel. As a ball setting tool passes through the seal sub and the seat, a ball connected to the setting tool with a shear pin contacts the seat and selectively connects to the seal sub. A predetermined force can be applied to the ball setting tool to break the shear pin, which leaves the seal ball in place, and the seal sub and the seal ball isolate the downhole pressures and contents from the uphole pressures and contents.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2017Publication date: December 21, 2017Inventors: Bryce Elliott Randle, Patrick Francis Campbell

Patent number: 8010227Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing geographic data to end users' mobile units from a remotely located navigation services provider so that navigation functions can be provided locally on the mobile units. The navigation services provider determines one or more map tile exit points along the route and sends the tile exit points and a set of map tiles to the mobile unit. The mobile unit calculates a route from its current position to the farthest map tile exit point for which map tile data has been received from the navigations services provider.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2009Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: Navteq North America, LLCInventor: Bryce Elliott

Publication number: 20100106403Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing geographic data to end users' mobile units from a remotely located navigation services provider so that navigation functions can be provided locally on the mobile units. While a user is operating a mobile unit to specify a destination for which route information is desired, an initial set of geographic data is downloaded from the remotely located navigation services provider. The initial set of geographic data represents an area located around a current position of the mobile unit when specification of the destination is initiated. Once the destination has been specified, data indicating the destination is used by the remotely located navigation services provider to calculate a route to the destination.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2009Publication date: April 29, 2010Applicant: NAVTEQ North America, LLCInventor: Bryce Elliott

Patent number: 7672778Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing geographic data to mobile units from a remotely located navigation-services provider. When a mobile unit requests route information, the navigation-services provider transmits an initial set of geographic data representing an area around a current position of the mobile unit. The navigation-services provider calculates a route to the destination and then identifies an intermediate exit point along the route that is located within the initial set of data. The mobile unit calculates an initial portion of the route to the intermediate exit point. The navigation-services provider determines a list of geographic-data groups needed to represent the remainder of the route and transmits this list to the mobile unit. Each geographic-data group is transmitted to the mobile unit along with an intermediate exit point. Using the received data, the mobile unit provides route guidance to a local end user.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2004Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: Navteq North America, LLCInventor: Bryce Elliott
