The longitudinally extending grooming tool, which in the preferred embodiment is a comb, may thus be adjusted to a desired position with respect to be gripping surface to make grooming the animal as convenient as possible. In a first position, the article is configured as a standard comb wherein the gripping surface is substantially centered with respect to the tines of the comb.
