  • Publication number: 20070098417
Abstract: An optical receiver having a photodetector coupled to an external optical fiber for receiving an optical communications signal and converting it into an electrical signal; an RF amplifier coupled to the electrical output of the photodetector and generating an output signal with distortion; and a post-distortion circuit connected to the output of the RF amplifier for canceling the distortion in the output signal produced by the RF amplifier.

    Publication date: May 3, 2007
    Inventors: Eva Peral, Bryon Kasper
  • Publication number: 20070003291
Abstract: An optical receiver for use in an optical communications system in which an analog signal is transmitted over an optical fiber including a housing with a photodetector coupled to the external optical fiber for receiving an optical communications signal; and a transimpedance amplifier coupled to the electrical output of the photodetector and having a bias current in a second stage set to a predetermined value that minimizes the distortion in the output signal created in a first amplification stage by a cancellation effect.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 9, 2005
    Publication date: January 4, 2007
    Inventors: Bryon Kasper, Eva Peral
  • Publication number: 20050019037
Abstract: A high performance transmission optical subassembly is disclosed. The transmission optical subassembly includes a laser diode transmitting an optical transmission beam from a first facet of the laser diode. A reflective mirror reflects a first portion of the optical transmission beam to an end face of an optical fiber and an edge illumination monitor photodetector, having a light receiving facet that receives a second portion of the optical transmission beam, produces a laser diode control signal as a function of the received second portion of the optical transmission beam.
