  • Patent number: 6974964
Abstract: An apparatus and method to scan and collect data relative to the position of a moving object. The method includes the calibration, equations, and algorithm needed to compute the surface coordinates of an object. The preferred embodiment of the apparatus includes two light sources and four area array image sensors, one moving device, and one computing device. The device scans the object, generates data, computes the position, and provides a complete measure of the 3D surface coordinates of an object. The methodology includes calibration of a known pattern to the area array image sensor, equations to map the physical points to the image sensor, algorithms to determine a best estimate of the coordinates of occluded points, and techniques to merge the computed coordinates from different sections of the object.

  • Patent number: 5440705
Abstract: A memory management unit suitable fo use in a digital signal processor having internal and eternal memories is described. The unit is especially designed to facilitate numeric algorithms such as fast fourier transforms, auto-correlation and digital filtering by relieving the programmer from the need to monitor memory accesses. Automatic post-updating of memory addresses is provided after indirect memory references. Also, memory boundary-checking is performed according to a user-specified modulus value, and a memory reference is automatically adjusted to fall within the user-specified address range. A dual-access register file stores initial memory addresses and their associated modulus values and in a dual-bus embodiment a pair of address generation units provides post-updates of the addresses stored in the register files.

  • Patent number: 5117225
Abstract: A computer display screen monitoring system comprising a master station and a plurality of user stations for displaying text and graphic data appearing on one display screen in the system on one or more other display screens in the system in real time. Multiplexers are provided in each of the stations in the system for selectively transferring video as well as audio signals (when provided) between the stations in response to function codes and addresses identifying the stations.

Abstract: A memory management unit suitable for use in a digital signal processor has internal and eternal memories is described. The unit is especially designed to facilitate numeric algorithms such as fast fourier transforms, auto-correlation and digital filtering by relieving the programmer from the need to moniter memory accesses.

  • Patent number: 4893279
Abstract: A storage device capable of being configured either as a single-access memory or as two separate memories is described. The storage device is especially suited for use in a digital signal processor performing numeric algorithms such as fast fourier transforms, autocorrelation and digital filtering because certain of such algorithms require fast dual access to two correlated, but separate, parameters while other such algorithms require fast single access to identical parameters. The storage device is shown in an exemplary embodiment empolying a multiplexer to affect writing of data from either of two data busses to one of the memories. In a second embodiment the write port of the memory is connected to one bus and the read port is connected to both busses. In this embodiment a dual-port address register file and a pair of address generation units provide indirect addressing capability for the storage device. Method of operating separate memories in a single-access or a dual-access mode is also described.

  • Patent number: 4672670
Abstract: In an ADPCM (Adaptive Differential PCM) system, in which the signal is commonly coded in C.sub.i, Q.sub.n, and .sigma. parameters, a lower sampling rate which normally causes distortion is made possible by deriving additional parameters A.sub.k, B.sub.k as a function of the error (distortion) between the original signal S.sub.n and the sampled signal Y.sub.n. The A.sub.k, B.sub.k coefficients control a distortion filter at the receiver.
