  • Publication number: 20160015845
Abstract: An oxidizing agent generating device and a liquid application device combine a gaseous oxidizing agent with a liquid creating an oxidizing agent-liquid material that is applied to a surface to incapacitate and destroy pathogens on the surface. The oxidizing agent ozone is combined with the liquid and the mixture is applied under pressure to the surface to render the pathogens ineffective. A surfactant is added to the mixture decreasing the tension of the mixture when it is in contact with the surface increasing the amount of dissolved ozone in contact with the surface.

  • Publication number: 20080029461
Abstract: A pump system for tangential flow or crossflow liquid filtration systems, such as reverse osmosis, nano, and micro filtration systems, that independently fixes the fraction of product water produced for each stage and recovers a fraction of the energy normally lost in rejected waste streams. The pump is of the rotary positive-displacement type and fixes the percent recovery of the overall system by establishing set ratios through the use of differing displacements of the various pump and motor stages, per unit of time, between the feed water inlet, product water outlet, and reject water outlet volume of each stage of the filtration system while using the same ratio setting components to recover the energy normally expelled along with the reject, or concentrate water. The pump system, while initially developed for use in water processing, can find equal or greater use in processing of fluid streams other than water and in processes other than filtration or reverse osmosis.

  • Patent number: 7125830
Abstract: A chemical formulation for treating coolant deficiencies, such as corrosion, scale, and low thermal transfer, and treating the root of most of the problems, which is water composition, and providing for preventative measures that further protect the systems that utilize the coolant. The formulation utilizes multiple ingredients, including an adsorbent, an emulsifier, a buffering agent, a dispersant, a deflocculate, a chelation agent, and a peptizing agent, each of which are chosen for a specific task and for the characteristics of having little or no impact on the environment, and for being either a food type additive, approved for use on food preparation surfaces, or otherwise generally recognized as safe. The ingredients, besides having their own specific task, when compounded with each other in the formulation or those elements found in the system being treated, also provide synergistic effects.

  • Publication number: 20040222141
Abstract: A system to remove mercury and mercury-containing particles from waste water prior to entrance into a municipal sewage system. In one form, the system includes a housing having an interior chamber with an inlet and outlet in fluid communication in the chamber, and a filter inside the chamber. The filter, in one embodiment, includes a course filter, an abatement filter, and an ion exchange filter. The chamber and filter may be formed in a removable cartridge mounted in the housing to facilitate safe handling and disposal thereof.

  • Publication number: 20040168978
Abstract: A method of separating a mixture into a plurality of more concentrated products utilizing recirculation and concentration of one product so as to extract a substantially large fraction of another product from the mixture; and the apparatus utilizing the present method in a system, such as a reverse osmosis system, capable of very high recovery rates, efficient power usage, and long component life. Substantially 100% of the concentrate product exiting a tangential separation device, such as a reverse osmosis filtering device, recirculates until the concentration of the concentrate reaches a predetermined level, at which time the concentrate is purged from the system and a new cycle begins. This achieves recovery rates in RO-based water purification systems from around 70% for feed water with 1,000 ppm of total dissolved solids to around 97% for feed water with 100 ppm of total dissolved solids.

  • Publication number: 20040140855
Abstract: A chemical formulation and the method of using said formulation for testing the ability of certain coolant treatment and additive formulations to actually perform certain aspects of the work for which they were intended. These certain aspects of work, for which the coolants ability to perform are tested, include the treated coolant's ability to remove scale from the treated system by inactivating, or otherwise rendering harmless, certain scale causing contaminants via chelation and sequestration. The invention further includes the method by which the testing is carried out.

  • Patent number: 5545379
Abstract: A rugged, flexible unit for generating a corona discharge includes a conductive central wire, flexible dielectric material, and a flexible conductive layer surrounding said dielectric material. The dielectric material may be advantageously formed of PTFE. The flexible unit may be conveniently cut from a long length of prefabricated insulated wire. In operation, an alternating current is supplied to the central wire and the outer conductive layer is grounded, such that a corona discharge is efficiently generated within and around interstices formed by the outer layer. The corona discharge may be used to ozonate oxygen-rich gas.
