Abstract: Disclosed is a head drum assembly of the video cassette recorder providing a lower drum, a motor which is mounted at the lower drum, ant upper drum rotating by the motor, a rotary transformer which is installed between the lower drum and the upper drum, and a plurality of head bases having one or more heads for reproducing the video signals from a magnetic tap and being integrally formed with the rotary transformer. The head bases and the rotary transformer are formed as one body by an insert molding. Advantages of the present invention are that assembling of the head assembly is easy, productivity is increased, and the manufacturing cost thereof is reduced.

Abstract: A rotary transformer comprises a rotor and a stator transformers. The rotor transformer has at least one first annular groove formed on a flat surface thereof and at least one first flexible printed circuit board ("FPCB") each of which is provided with a first annular portion and a first terminal portion on which a first circuit pattern is printed, the first annular portion being inserted into the first groove. The stator transformer has at least one second annular groove formed on a flat surface thereof, the second groove corresponding to the first groove of the rotor transformer, and at least one second FPCB each of which is provided with a second annular portion and a second terminal portion on which a second circuit pattern is printed, the second annular portion being inserted into the second groove.

Abstract: A head drum assembly for use in a video cassette recorder includes a stationary shaft, a rotary drum, a stationary drum, a ring collar, a rotor transformer, a stator transformer, and a conical washer spring. The rotor transformer and the stator transformer are attached to the rotary drum, and to a bottom surface of a stator transformer attachment plate fitted around the ring collar. The conical washer spring is fitted around the stationary shaft and interposed between the rotary drum and the ring collar. A correct separation between the rotor transformer and the stator transformer is obtained by adjusting a vertical position of the ring collar until the stator and rotor transformers have a predetermined separation, then immobilizing the ring collar by tightening a locking screw provided therein. This allows a simpler manufacturing process and lowers the defects rate, ultimately resulting in a lower unit cost.

The amplifier is mounted onto an inner bottom surface of the stationary drum and is electrically connected to a second winding coils of the stator transformer.
