    Abstract: In one aspect, the invention relates to engineered osmosis and related membrane-based separation technologies. Disclosed are semi-permeable nanostructured osmosis membranes comprising a film polymerized on a nanofiber support fabric, methods for osmotically-driven separation, the method comprising creating an osmotic pressure gradient across a semi-permeable nanostructured osmosis membrane comprising a film polymerized on a nanofiber support fabric, and methods of generating power comprising creating an osmotic pressure gradient across a semi-permeable nanostructured osmosis membrane comprising a film polymerized on a nanofiber support fabric.
