  • Patent number: 8900461
Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for treating ship ballast water, wherein electron beams are irradiated into the ballast water to induce radiolysis of the water, and harmful marine organisms present in the ballast water are killed by radicals produced by the radiolysis. The electron beams are continuously irradiated into the ballast water under operating conditions of an energy of 0.5-5 MeV, an electron beam irradiation dose of 0.1-30 kGy and a flow rate of 1-200 m3/hr.

  • Patent number: 8277738
Abstract: Disclosed is a mobile type electron accelerator which enables a high voltage generator and a beam extraction device irradiating electron beams, and a reactor to be safely placed in containers mounted on trailers of a vehicle having mobility so as to allow a sample (for example, waste water, waste gas, and a sample to be investigated) to be tested in real time while maximally suppressing danger of environmental pollution or radiation exposure, thereby assuring rapidity, field applicability, and accuracy.

  • Patent number: 6121507
Abstract: A wastewater treatment method for processing wastewater containing hazardous matter is provided. The wastewater treatment method removes the hazardous matter by irradiating the electron beam into the wastewater. The wastewater treatment method adds various kinds of adsorbents into the wastewater according to the classes of the hazardous matters contained in the wastewater.

  • Patent number: 5723838
Abstract: Electron beam irradiation step is followed by alkaline material atomizing step in the present invention. Since irradiation step and alkaline material atomizing step is conducted in different time and in different reactors, the construction cost of X-ray shielding concrete is decreased remarkably. If the humidity of incinerator effluent gas is more than 100 g/Nm.sup.3 in dry basis by adding a steam of 110.degree..about.200.degree. C., harmful substances are efficiently removed by electron beam irradiation. As a result, it is possible to realize a space-saving equipment, a reduction of required energy, a simple operation controlling, and a prevention of occurrence of secondary environment pollution.
