    Abstract: A system and method of analyzing and using volumetric data of a patient is disclosed. Volumetric data characterizing a patient is obtained using an imaging modality such as a computerized tomographic device (CT), magnetic resonance imager (MR), or other tomographic modality. The volumetric data or image slices derived from the data is compared with anatomical image or model data from an anatomical atlas so as to associate the patient data with a body structure. The anatomical association is used as a search term in a data base to retrieve information which may be useful in diagnosis or treatment of the patient.
