  • Publication number: 20210197307
Abstract: A method is provided for smoothing a surface region of a component consisting of an electrically conductive material. The surface region of the component is coated inside a vacuum chamber, by focused electron beam(s) with a first surface energy, which brings about melting of the component material within the surface region. Before melting, the surface region is passed over at least twice by the electron beam, each time with a different focal length of the electron beam. A second surface energy is set for the electron beam, such that no melting of the component material is brought about in the surface region. Data is recorded by a number of sensors arranged inside the vacuum chamber. An actual value for the roughness is compared to a set point value. If the actual value has not reached the set point value, a value for the first surface energy is determined via comparison.

  • Patent number: 10596556
Abstract: A metallic foam body containing an alloy skin which is up to 50 ?m thick can be obtained by a process including (a) providing a metallic foam body comprising a first metallic material; (b) applying a second metallic material which contains a first metallic compound that is leachable as such and/or that can be transformed by alloying into a second metallic compound that is leachable and different from the first metallic compound on a surface of the foam body (a), by coating the metallic foam body with an organic binder and a powder of the second metallic material; (c) forming a skin on foam body (b) by alloying the first and the second metallic material; and (d) leaching out with a leaching agent at least a part of the first and/or the second metallic compound.

  • Patent number: 9346240
Abstract: Disclosed are an open-porous metal foam and a method for manufacturing the same. An open-porous metal foam according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention is made of an iron-based alloy including 15 wt % or more of chrome and 5 wt % or more of aluminum. The open-porous metal foam is a semi-product that is formed of iron or the iron-based alloy that does not include chrome and aluminum or includes a smaller amount of chrome and aluminum in the powder when manufacturing, and the surface and the open pore thereof are uniformly coated with the powder of the iron-chrome-aluminum alloy and the organic binding agent. When heat treatment is performed under a reduction atmosphere, sintering is performed.

  • Patent number: 8780527
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, a method of making a supercapacitor includes impregnating a foam electrode substrate with an active material precursor, wherein the foam electrode substrate includes a plurality of pores and the active material precursor is dispersed into the pores. The method further includes reacting the active material precursor infiltrated foam substrate with a reductant under conditions sufficient to convert the active material precursor to an active material, wherein the active material is based on a nitride, an oxynitride, a carbide, or an oxycarbide of a metal selected from Groups III, IV, V, VI, or VII of the Periodic Table.
