  • Patent number: 5176234
Abstract: The operation of an automated friction clutch between the output element of the engine and the input element of the variable-speed transmission in a motor vehicle is regulated by a fluid-operated system which receives signals from an evaluating circuit. The evaluating circuit receives signals from a number of sensors which monitor the RPM of the engine, the RPM of the input element of the transmission, clutch travel, the position of the throttle valve, the position of the shift linkage, the position of the gas pedal and other parameters. The fluid-operated system can select the condition of the clutch during starting, driving, acceleration, parking, driving in reverse and/or parking of the motor vehicle and/or during transitions between such stages of operation.

  • Patent number: 4927084
Abstract: A fuel injection valve wherein a reciprocable valving element is movable from closed to open position by a piezoceramic moving unit having at least two flexural resonators in the form of laminated packages of metallic carriers, ceramic layers and foil-shaped and/or ring-shaped conductors connected to the poles of an energy source in such a way that energization entails deformation of packages in opposite directions, namely the deformed packages have confronting concave or convex sides. This increases the distance which is covered by the valving element in response to energization of the packages.

  • Patent number: 4843558
Abstract: A regulation for a gas engine with a rotational speed probe for the crankshaft rotational speed, with a rotational speed-load-ignition angle-performance graph memory read out during each crankshaft rotation, with an ignition pulse generator controlled by the performance graph memory, with a lambda-probe, with a load probe, with a vacuum-controlled gas pressure adjusting device for the propulsion gas and with a flow-mixing device for the propulsion gas and the air. The invention provides a regulation for a gas engine which offers a full utilization of the possibilities of the gas engine above all in lean operation and in the partial load range. A rotational speed-load-lambda-performance graph (36) is provided for producing lambda-desired values. The lambda-desired values readied by the rotational speed-load-lambda-performance graph (36) are compared with the lambda-actual values under formation of a lambda difference value.

  • Patent number: 4768485
Abstract: A mixture control for an internal combustion engine with a lambda probe and with a memory device containing nominal values for the fuel supply dependent on operational values of the engine, as load, rotational speed and temperature. The mixture control renders it possible to optimize the consumption and/or emission, under consideration of the operating conditions, in the entire moving range of an internal combustion engine. The memory device comprises address positions selectable by the operating values of the internal combustion engine and also by the actual lambda value, and stores nominal values for the fuel supply in the form of a map for a characteristic field. The probe voltage and the internal resistance of the lambda probe are determined.

  • Patent number: 4739929
Abstract: A fuel injection valve having a piezoceramic valve body, comprising a plurality of superposed ceramic plates each having one conductor layer on each side and voltage leads to the conductor layers. Each ceramic plate is arranged on a carrier plate. Between each unit, consisting of a ceramic plate and a carrier plate, an insulating foil is provided with conductor foils arranged on each side as conductor layers. Each insulating foil comprises two terminal lugs. Each insulating foil, in the region of a terminal lug, is laminated on one side with one conductor foil. The correlated termial lugs are connected in each case to an electrical contact for the correlated conductor foils.

  • Patent number: 4627401
Abstract: A high-velocity carburetor for an Otto engine comprising a slide for changing the cross-section of the suction pipe, a nozzle connection receiving nozzles and a profiled nozzle needle seated on the slide and controlling the cross-section of the nozzle. One object is the precise adjustment of the air admixture and thus an optimum mixture regulation as a function of the most important parameters for the operational conditions. The nozzle connection contains two nozzles, situated coaxially to one another and separated from one another by an intermediate chamber. The intermediate chamber is connected to an outlet channel of a flow control value having a ferromagnetic membrane-like valve plate. The valve plate is operable by two coils opposing each other and being connected to push-pull outputs of a pulse generator with adjustable pulse duty factor. An input channel of the flow control valve is connected with the atmospheric air via an air filter.

  • Patent number: 4610426
Abstract: For a low-pressure injection valve, a piezoceramic valve plate as a flexural resonator, the valve plate having a carrier plate and on one side or on both sides silvered piezoceramic plates held by a binding layer. It is the object of the present invention to provide a flexural resonator which comprises within a large temperature range a proper and reliable connection between the carrier plate and the ceramic plate. The carrier plate consists of a metallic glass, and the binding layer is a soft solder with Zn as main component and an alloy suppressor such as Pb, Cd, and/or Ag.

  • Patent number: 4481912
Abstract: A device for the angular adjustment of a camshaft of a combustion engine according to speed and load conditions and to the angular position of the camshaft with respect to a driving wheel being controlled by an adjustable mechanism. The technical problem is the angular adjustment of the single or multiple camshafts with respect to the crankshaft according to speed and load conditions. Tooth pulses, or counting pulses, corresponding to the angular position of the crankshaft (2) and reference pulses corresponding to a particular angular reference position (singular tooth) are generated by a transducer, or pulse generator, controlled by the toothed ring associated with the crankshaft and the ignition circuit (13). An address counter (10) is reset by the reference pulses and incremented by the tooth pulses so that the output of the counter provides digital address signals corresponding to the actual angular position of the crankshaft (2).

  • Patent number: 4418668
Abstract: An electronic ignition pulse generator for internal combustion engines comprising an angle-of-rotation pulse giver feeding a succession of angle pulses and a cycle signal to an ignition point computer and featuring a novel adjustment pulse generator with a binary counter controlled by the cycle signal, by a pressure transducer, voltage comparator and RS flip-flop gate, to count angle pulses, until the count corresponds to the pressure level in the engine intake duct, thereby producing a pressure-reflective adjustment count for the computer. A throttle switch at the carburetor blocks the counter during closed-throttle operation.

  • Patent number: 4379239
Abstract: Circuit for generating a trigger pulse delayed within a period of a periodical motion of variable periodic time, the phase lag relative to a zero phase being dependent on the periodic time and other parameters, a zero pulse and angle pulses starting at zero 5 phase being generated, the pulse frequency being inversely proportional to the periodic time, the angle pulses being fed into a counter and correcting data being generated within every period during a constant-time window. The technical problem the invention relates to is to design the circuit so that a single sequence of angle pulses may be evaluated and no control pulses are necessary except a reference pulse for defining a reference phase. According to the invention the following solution to the problem is proposed: during a constant-time window the angle pulses are varied under control so that each single pulse may be duplicated, counted normally, or suppressed.
