  • Patent number: 6680032
Abstract: A new process for continuously preparing granules having narrow grain size distribution, comprising a) spraying the product to be granulated in liquid form into a fluidized bed, b) separating the proportions of fine material escaping from the fluidized bed from the off-gas and returning said fine material to the fluidized bed as nuclei for granule formation, c) setting the fluidizing gas flow such that granules are formed which are of a predetermined size, and d) removing the completed granules solely by way of at least one countercurrent gravity classifier inserted into the outflow bottom of the fluidized-bed vessel. A new apparatus for carrying out the process according to the invention and new granules.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 20, 2004
    Assignee: Bayer AG

  • Patent number: 6433137
Abstract: The present invention provides TUP1 polynucleotides, including TUP1 polynucleotides encoding Tup1, and Tup1 polypeptides, from Candida albicans. Disruption of TUP1 function in C. albicans is associated with filamentous formation as well as low infectivity. These TUP1 polynucleotide and Tup1 polypeptide sequences (and anti-Tup1 antibodies derived from Tup1 polypeptides) may be used in methods of detecting C. albicans sequences in a biological sample. Further, the invention provides methods for screening agents which may control C. albicans virulence and compositions comprising these agents. The invention also provides methods of obtaining gene(s) and/or gene product(s) which are involved in a TUP1 pathway, as well as methods of controlling C. albicans virulence by comprising TUP1 function.

  • Patent number: 6344554
Abstract: The present invention provides RBT1 polynucleotides, including RBT1 polynucleotides encoding Rbt1, and Rbt1 polypeptides, from Candida albicans. Expression of the RBT1 gene is upregulated by the inactivation of the TUP1 gene and by environmental conditions that induce filamentous growth. Disruption of TUP1 finction in C. albicans is associated with filament fonnation as well as low infectivity. These RBT1 polynucleotide and Rbtl polypeptide sequences (and anti-Rbt1 antibodies derived from Rbt1 polypeptides) may be used in methods of detecting C. albicans sequences in a biological sample. Further, the invention provides methods for screening agents which may control C. albicans virulence and compositions comprising these agents.

  • Patent number: 4420892
Abstract: The thin film contact dryer consists of a rotor having flat rotor elements extending in a radial direction. In the central third of the rotor is arranged at least one combination of distributing elements and an annular weir which revolves with the rotor and leaves a narrow annular gap open to the internal dryer wall, the annular weir being arranged immediately downstream of the distributing elements as viewed in the direction of flow.
