  • Patent number: 6478886
Abstract: Agent for sealing metallic substrates, in particular zinc or zinc alloy substrates, characterized in that it consists of an aqueous dispersion of a) at least one silane derivative and b) a colloidal silica and/or colloidal silicate. This agent may be used for a direct coating of metallic substrates without chromatation.

    Assignee: Kunz GmbH
Inventors: Volker Kunz, Hermann Donsbach, Burkhard Flamme
  • Patent number: 5393611
Abstract: Chromated or passivated (phosphated) zinc and zinc alloy coatings on workpieces are provided with a protective coating which is largely inorganic and formed from titanium or zirconium chelate and/or titanium or zirconium acid ester and an organofunctional polysiloxane applied in solution form by a post-treatment dipping.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 4, 1994
Date of Patent: February 28, 1995
    Assignee: Ewald Dorken AG

  • Patent number: 5166251
Abstract: A corrosive resistant coating with deep drawability characteristics which is applied to a metal substrate as a wet film and then heated to dry and initiate curing to provide a protective coating tenaciously bonded to the substrate. The composition has a corrosion inhibiting powder metal, a drawing agent of polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), a primary bonding resin, and a vehicle of solvents. Preferably, the coating composition also has a secondary organic resin and thixotropic, metal suspension and hydroscopic agents. The cured coating composition on a metal substrate, in most instances, eliminates the needs for additional die drawing compounds when deep cold drawing the coated metal substrate.
