  • Patent number: 8721666
Abstract: A self-anchoring tissue lifting device for use with facial cosmetic reconstructive surgery includes an implant and a removable foil cover disposed on the implant. The implant includes an elongated mesh strip having a distal end on which is situated a tissue anchoring fleece material. Opposite lateral edges of the mesh material are preferably laser cut during the manufacturing process of the implant to provide a plurality of tissue engaging prickles along the longitudinal length of the implant. For treating the mid face and jowl, a stab incision is made within the hairline of the temple region of the patient and the device is applied from the temporal area to the peak of the ipsilateral cheek to capture the malar fat pad to correct midface abnormalities or the ptotic tissue causing the jowl.

  • Patent number: 7988001
Abstract: A process for producing a container comprising an outer container, an inner bag disposed therein and a pressure equalisation opening disposed in the outer container, and a container produced according to this process, is described, wherein a pre-moulding, comprising two coaxial tubes, is first produced by co-extrusion with the help of a blow mould and with an outwardly-projecting base seam being formed. The process forms a pressure equalisation opening in the outer container without endangering the integrity of the container, wherein a lower wastage rate and higher productivity are achieved. To do this, the base seam is partially cut off and a force which acts in the direction of the seam is introduced into the pre-moulding, which has a temperature of 40 degrees C. to 70 degrees C., which force breaks open and plastically deforms the base seam so that a pressure equalisation opening is formed in the base area.

  • Publication number: 20100275917
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, a device, and a control program for the fluid-tight sealing of capsules containing medicaments, wherein the capsules consist of at least one capsule body and a capsule cap which are set one into the other telescopically and provided with a tight band in the abutment region on the exterior side of the capsule, wherein the capsule components are filled with gas which has a changed temperature and/or a changed pressure in relation to the environment, and wherein a reduction of the difference in pressure in the capsule occurs via gaps between capsule body and capsule cap after the capsule components have been placed one inside the other. The capsules produced via the method according to the invention are disposable capsules and preferably contain a single dose of an orally administered pharmaceutical formulation in the form of a powder or a liquid.

  • Publication number: 20090062827
Abstract: A device for degenerating a fibroid comprises a receptacle sized and shaped so as to receive a uterine artery therein and a vacuum source connected to the receptacle. The vacuum source is capable of creating a vacuum sufficient to draw a uterine artery into the receptacle, and to fold it in a manner that substantially obstructs blood flow therethrough. In a method of degenerating a fibroid, the aforesaid device is placed near a uterine artery, and a vacuum is applied to draw the uterine artery into the receptacle so that the uterine artery folds shut, thereby obstructing blood flow through the artery. The vacuum is applied for a time that is sufficient to degrade or kill the fibroid, after which the vacuum is released.

  • Publication number: 20090054915
Abstract: A device for degenerating a fibroid comprises a gripper mechanism sized and shaped so as to grip a uterine artery and a rotating mechanism attached to the gripper mechanism. The rotating mechanism may be rotated so as to rotate said gripper mechanism, thereby twisting a gripped uterine artery so as to obstruct blood flow through the artery. In a method of degenerating a uterine fibroid, the aforesaid gripping device is used to catch hold of a uterine artery and is rotated in a direction so as to twist the uterine artery about itself, thereby obstructing blood flow to the uterine fibroid. The gripping device is held in place for a period of time needed to degenerate the fibroid.

  • Patent number: 7451884
Abstract: A process for the production of a container (1) comprising an outer container (2), an inner bag (3) disposed therein and a pressure equalisation opening (10) disposed in the outer container (2), and also a container (1) produced according to this process, is described, wherein firstly a pre-moulding, comprising two coaxial tubes, is first produced by co-extrusion with the help of a blow mould and with an outwardly-projecting base seam (5) being formed. The process is to form a pressure equalisation opening (10) in the outer container (2) of the container (1) without endangering the integrity of the container (1), wherein a lower wastage rate and higher productivity are to be achieved. This is attained by a process wherein the base seam (5) is partially cut off and a force which acts in the direction of the seam is introduced into the pre-moulding, which still has a temperature of 40° C. to 70° C.

  • Patent number: 7285086
Abstract: A medical device including an implant and inserter and a method for using the same. One embodiment includes an implant for implantation within a patient, and a first inserter for inserting the implant. The first inserter has a distal end region including a tissue penetrating distal tip, a proximal end region, a capture element located at the distal end region, and an implant holding element having a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end is removably received within the capture element, and the implant holding element further is movably coupled to the first inserter at a first location proximal of the capture element. The implant holding element extends from the first location at which it is movably coupled to the first inserter, and subsequently through the implant before being removably received within the capture element to thereby removably secure the implant to the insertion device.
