  • Patent number: 8339057
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp with an electronic ballast, which is designed to provide an AC feed signal for the high-pressure discharge lamp, the frequency of the AC feed signal being at least 1 MHz, wherein the electronic ballast is adapted to modulate the amplitude of the AC feed signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 9, 2006
Date of Patent: December 25, 2012
    Assignee: OSRAM GmbH
Inventors: Martin Honsberg-Riedl, Peter Niedermeier, Burkhard Ulrich
  • Patent number: 8120269
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp (12) with an electronic ballast, which is designed to provide an AC feed signal for the high-pressure discharge lamp (12). The AC feed signal comprises, in the time range as modulation period (T), a serial sequence of at least one first signal section (Sa1), one second signal section (Sa2) and one third signal section (Sa3), which are associated with a first, a second and a third color. The AC feed signal is an amplitude-modulated RF signal (IRF) with a frequency (f) of at least 500 kHz.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 2006
Date of Patent: February 21, 2012
    Assignee: Osram AG
Inventors: Martin Honsberg-Riedl, Andreas Huber, Simon Lankes, Burkhard Ulrich
  • Patent number: 7884554
Abstract: A starting circuit arrangement for starting at least one discharge lamp by applying an electrical starting voltage pulse to the discharge lamp, the starting circuit arrangement has: at least one source circuit arrangement for providing an electrical primary voltage pulse, at least one starting circuit for providing the starting voltage pulse, and at least one inductive coupling element for inductively coupling-in the primary voltage pulse into the starting circuit for the purpose of generating the starting voltage pulse. The inductive coupling element has a transformation ratio for a voltage transformation which is selected from the range of from 1/25 to 1/400. A method for starting a discharge lamp by applying a starting voltage pulse using the starting circuit arrangement is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090153071
Abstract: The invention specifies a starting circuit arrangement for starting at least one discharge lamp by applying an electrical starting voltage pulse to the discharge lamp, the starting circuit arrangement having the following features: at least one source circuit arrangement for providing an electrical primary voltage pulse, at least one starting circuit for providing the starting voltage pulse, and at least one inductive coupling element for inductively coupling-in the primary voltage pulse into the starting circuit for the purpose of generating the starting voltage pulse. The starting circuit arrangement is characterized by the fact that the inductive coupling element has a transformation ratio for a voltage transformation which is selected from the range of from 1/25 to 1/400.
