  • Patent number: 5496239
Abstract: A downhill skiing/snowboarding/water skiing simulator and exerciser is disclosed, having an adjustable declined platform on which two simulated skis move, supported on rear wheeled trucks, sideways against tension type resistance riding back and forth its curved back track. Simultaneously with the rear movement, the ski tips or simulated snowboard pivot around the reduced lateral travel of the stacked swiveling, lateral moving front ski tip assembly, while the skis move between wedge and parallel positions freely. Independent height adjustments on either side of the back track allow changes from traversing directional simulations prior to the start of an actual stop movement. Outward angled standing bars provide pulling forces for the feel of the centrifugal force of a snow ski turn or water ski/snowboard turn. The forward end of each ski is capable of lateral and longitudinal movement.

  • Patent number: 4165889
Abstract: A step-in safety ski binding comprises a stirrup mounted to a support, a boot clasp is rotatably mounted to the stirrup and includes a first part which engages the ski boot sole and a second part which pivots on the bridging section of the stirrup. An elastic locking mechanism is provided laterally between the sole engaging part and the stirrup legs so that the boot sole can be automatically locked therein and is releasable therefrom upon application of a predetermined minimum separation force.

  • Patent number: 4065151
Abstract: A retractable ski binding for retaining a ski boot in normal skiing relationship on a ski, which yieldably permits separation of the boot and ski responsive to the application of abnormal forces and which has an automatic boot-to-ski return capability. A soleplate arranged for detachably mounting the ski boot is connected to the ski by an elongated, elastic leash that stretches to permit their separation and elastically contracts to draw them back together. Rigid links on the terminal ends of the leash form portions of the force-applying link between the boot and ski and engage cooperating structure on the soleplate in such a manner that the effective retention force between the boot and ski is higher when they are in close proximity to one another than when they have separated.
