  • Patent number: 5463537
Abstract: A device capable of flashing upon movement of the device comprising at least one light emitting diode having a first preformed conductor connected to a cathode of the diode and a second preformed conductor connected to an anode of the diode; a first arrangement to provide a power source having a positive terminal and a negative terminal, the negative terminal being connected to the first conductor; a normally open contact lever coupled to the positive terminal capable of closing a connection to the second conductor resulting in light being emitted from the diode; and a second arrangement associated with the lever responsive to movement of the device to cause intermittent closing of the connection to the second conductor resulting in the diode flashing.

  • Patent number: 4397920
Abstract: Adapter for permitting a smaller standard size battery to be used in applications requiring dimensionally larger standard size battery cells. The adapter can be economically formed of plastic and is intended to permit an AA size cell to be used in C and D cell applications and a specially arranged metallic contact is provided at one end in conjunction with a stop member which prevents the repeated insertions of the AA size cell from crushing a resilient member integrally formed with the electrical contact member. The adapter can be formed in two halves and can be secured together by means of an outer label, thereby eliminating the necessity for glues and adhesives to hold the halves together.

  • Patent number: 4360860
Abstract: A unitary portable flashlight assembly incorporating a hand operated generator and rechargeable batteries, such as the pressure vented nickel-cadmium type with welded electrodes. The generator is designed and operated to charge th batteries at a high rate for a short time to provide extended operation of the load during a later discharging mode. The batteries also serve to regulate the voltage during the charging mode thus protecting the load if it be connected during the charging period. The battery assembly can provide the necessary energy to operate such devices as radio receivers and transmitters, electric fire starters, etc., as well as providing a mechanical output.

  • Patent number: 4317107
Abstract: A detector for providing an audible indication of the vacuum condition for use in promoting the economic operation of a vehicle including a vacuum detector for detecting the magnitude of the vacuum condition in the manifold vacuum line of a vehicle to effect a switch closure which energizes an audible alarm. The vacuum detector comprises a piston reciprocally mounted within a piston chamber and movable responsive to changes in vacuum. A piston rod is arranged between combination switch and guide means for maintaining the axial alignment of the piston rod and for cooperating with conductive means arranged along the piston rod for establishing a conductive path for energizing the audible alarm when a predetermined vacuum condition is present. The contact design provides automatic silencing of the alarm when the engine is turned off or upon demand of engine power beyond a predetermined value. The small size allows for an out-of-sight dashboard mount without affecting operator recognition of the alarm.
