  • Patent number: 6435065
Abstract: A bit-storing tool handle is provided that includes a surface of the handle defining a channel adapted to retain the bit, and a fulcrum point contained within the channel for rotating the retained bit out of the channel. The bit-storing tool handle may alternatively include a plurality of channels adapted to retain the bits such that the longitudinal axis of the retained bits are co-linear to the longitudinal axis of the handle and a fulcrum point within each of the channels that promotes the manual rotation of each of the bits about a cooperating fulcrum point so that upon such rotation, the bits extend radially from the longitudinal axis of the handle. The channels include an opening dimensioned and configured to allow the finger of a person to insert under a first end of the bit thereby facilitating the removal of the bit from the channel when an excessive amount of force is required to pivot the bit due to cold weather or similar conditions.

  • Patent number: 5579668
Abstract: In order to enhance the availability of tools, a multifunction screwdriver has a handle with first and second ends that support a pair of removable and reversible screwdriver tips therein. The handle has first and second axial bores in each of the ends with the second bores of a greater diameter but lesser depth than the corresponding ones of the first bores. The second bores in the handle each have a bushing disposed therein which is suitably sized and configured for axial and radial retention. The removable and reversible screwdriver tips are each operatively associated with one of the first and second ends of the handle. The screwdriver tips each have an elongated shank of non-circular cross-section and a driving tip on each of opposite ends thereof. The bushings also each have an inner surface of non-circular cross-section for receiving at least one of the screwdriver tips therein.

  • Patent number: 5533429
Abstract: In order to enhance the effectiveness of a tool for driving a fastener in a clockwise and/or counterclockwise direction, the tool includes a fastener engaging portion, a rotational movement imparting portion, and a releasably retaining portion. The fastener engaging portion is adapted to matingly engage a fastener for clockwise and/or counterclockwise driven movement in response to rotational movement of the fastener engaging portion. The rotational movement imparting portion is adapted to impart rotational movement to the fastener engaging portion to thereby impart driven movement of the fastener in the clockwise and/or counterclockwise direction. The releasably retaining portion is adapted to releasably retain the fastener engaging portion in operative relationship with the rotational movement imparting portion.

  • Patent number: 5496103
Abstract: In order to visibly display products of various types and provide product storage therefor while restricting access to the products for security reasons and/or to maintain the products in a clean condition, a product display and storage cabinet is provided. The cabinet includes first and second distinct product display sections arranged integrally adjacent to one another. The first section has a plurality of distinct product display levels extending from a lower extreme to an upper extreme in generally step-like fashion. The cabinet also has a single product display level for the second section extending from the first section at one of the extremes thereof. In one embodiment, a plurality of walls integrally surround the first and second sections to define an enclosure for product storage and separate transparent lids cover the first section and the second section to restrict access thereto.

  • Patent number: 5450775
Abstract: In order to enhance the availability of tools, a multi-function tool includes a handle having first and second ends with the first end having an opening for receiving a screwdriver tip, and the second end having an opening for receiving a tube which is releaseably retained in relation to the handle by a collet. The handle has opposed side openings extending from the second end to a point near the collet. The tube is mounted for limited axial sliding movement relative to the handle from a position where one of its ends is retained by the collet to a position where it is no longer retained by the collet to position the tube in alignment with the side openings in the handle. The tube is also mounted for pivoting movement when it is in alignment with the side openings to a generally transversely extending position. The tube cooperates with the handle in the generally transversely extending position to define a T-shaped handled for applying increased torque to the first handle end.

  • Patent number: 5450776
Abstract: In order to remove a one-way fastener of the type having a generally circular head with a flat upper surface portion and a convex upper surface portion, a security fastener removal tool is disclosed. The tool includes a shank having an end to be placed in engagement with the head of the one-way fastener. The end of the shank has a pair of fastener-engaging tips extending therefrom for mating engagement with a corresponding pair of tip-receiving recesses in the head of the one-way fastener. The tool also includes a generally cylindrical collar which is disposed so as to fully surround the pair of fastener-engaging tips. With this arrangement, the collar has an inner surface diameter substantially the same as the fastener head outer diameter, and the inner surface of the collar is adapted to grip the head of the one-way fastener.

  • Patent number: 4876929
Abstract: A cordless portable electric screwdriver having a chuck for normally holding a tool for rotary driven motion at one end thereof. The screwdriver includes a flexible extension shaft having a first end adapted to cooperate with the chuck and a second end adapted to hold the tool for rotary driven motion. The first end of the flexible extension shaft and the chuck have complementarily shaped non-circular cross-sections. The chuck has an axis and is adapted to receive the first end of the flexible shaft by means of axial insertion of the shaft into the chuck with the non-circular cross-sections in rotationally aligned relationship and the chuck is also adapted to hold the first end of the flexible extension shaft for rotary driven motion of the shaft. The second end of the flexible extension shaft and the tool have complementarily shaped non-circular cross-sections. The screwdriver is operable to drive the tool by reason of the second end of the flexible shaft holding the tool for rotary driven motion thereof.
