Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling display segments supply data to be displayed for each segment of a display panel, and display the supplied data according to each segment of the display panel for a predetermined time period. The supplying and the displaying of the data are performed repeatedly a predetermined number of times with respect to all of the segments to be displayed. By using residual image effects, it is possible to create the effect of data being displayed on whole segments. As a result, the number of registers for controlling the display segments is reduced, thereby producing economically advantageous effects.
