    Abstract: A closed-caption broadcasting and displaying method and apparatus. According to the closed-caption broadcasting method and apparatus, a caption signal including character information and control information is encoded in a scanning line of each field of a television broadcasting signal to be transmitted, which does not affect the television broadcasting signal. Control information on the writing direction and display position among the control information is repeatedly transmitted at predetermined intervals.
