  • Publication number: 20090201384
Abstract: A method and apparatus for matching images are provided. The image matching method includes: obtaining a depth image and an intensity image of an object using a depth camera installed at a first position and a color image of the object using a color camera installed at a second position other than the first poison; transforming the obtained depth image and intensity image into a depth image and an intensity image, respectively, that could be obtained if the object were photographed by a camera at the second position; and matching the transformed depth image and intensity image and the obtained color image. In this way, a depth image and intensity image obtained separately from a 2-dimensional (2D) color image can be accurately matched to the 2D color image, thereby allowing a reliable 3D image to be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20090123061
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for generating a depth image are provided. The method of generating a depth image includes: emitting light to an object for a first predetermined time period; detecting first light information of the object for the first predetermined time period from the time when the light is emitted; detecting second light information of the object for the first predetermined time period a second predetermined time period after the time when the light is emitted; and by using the detected first and second light information, generating a depth image of the object. In this way, the method can generate a depth image more quickly.

  • Publication number: 20090114802
Abstract: An image generating method and apparatus are provided. The image generating method irradiates a light with a predetermined wavelength to a target object at a predetermined interval, passes a light having a wavelength required to generate a color image from among lights reflected from the target object, detects color values according to the passed light, generates a depth image of the target object using color values detected during a period in which the light with the predetermined wavelength is irradiated, and generates the color image of the target object using color values detected during a period other than the period in which the light with the predetermined wavelength is irradiated. Accordingly, the image generating method can generate a depth image having high resolution while maintaining the resolution of the color image.

  • Publication number: 20090066931
Abstract: A distance measurement method, medium, and apparatus for measuring a distance between the distance measurement apparatus and a target object are provided. The distance measurement method comprises counting pulses of a clock pulse signal having a low frequency during a period from when an optical pulse signal is applied to a target object by a distance measurement apparatus to when the optical pulse signal reflected from the target object is received by the distance measurement apparatus, counting pulses of the clock pulse signal during a period from when the optical pulse signal is received by the distance measurement apparatus to when the received optical pulse signal and the clock pulse signal correspond to each other, and calculating a distance between the distance measurement apparatus and the target object using the counting results. Accordingly, the distance can be measured with high accuracy using the optical pulse signal and the clock pulse signal, thereby reducing costs and power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20090067707
Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for matching a 2D color image and a depth image to obtain 3D information. The method includes matching resolution of the 2D color image and resolution of a light intensity image, wherein the 2D color image and the light intensity image are separately obtained, detecting at least one edge from the matched 2D color image and the matched light intensity image, and matching overlapping pixels of the matched 2D color image and a depth image, which corresponds to the matched light intensity image, with each other in case that the matched 2D color image and the depth image are overlapped as much as the matched 2D color image and the matched light intensity image are overlapped so that the detected edges of the matched 2D color image and the detected edges of the matched light intensity image are maximally overlapped with each other. Accordingly, the 2D color image and the depth image can be accurately matched so that reliable 3D image information can be quickly obtained.

  • Publication number: 20070024914
Abstract: A screen designing method and a screen designing device for reducing a moire pattern are provided. In the screen designing method, screen parameters corresponding to a preset screen frequency, a preset screen angle, and a preset resolution are detected first. Then, the coordinates of dot centers being the centers of cluster dots each with a plurality of microdots are detected. Next, a dot center order indicating a sequence in which the dot centers are turned on is determined. Thereafter, a microdot order indicating a sequence in which the microdots are turned on is determined using an evaluation function that quantitates the perception of a moiré pattern by a human's vision. Accordingly, the microdot order is determined using the evaluation function based on the visual characteristics of a human, thereby preventing patterns that degrade the quality of image formation and a moiré pattern from being generated.

  • Publication number: 20070019239
Abstract: A color halftone screen generating method and a system thereof. The color halftone screen generating method includes determining a dot center of each of a plurality of channels arbitrarily, selecting a predetermined number of applicants in a sequence in which cost values are small for each channel by performing a mask operation for each channel, overlapping the determined dot centers of the channels and computing an overlap cost value using an overlap filter, and output selecting an applicant closest to a position having a minimum overlap cost value among overlap cost values of the applicants. The color halftone screen generating method and system can reduce a pattern of low frequency characteristics generated due to overlapping of color channels and improve quality of a binary output image by uniformly distributing overlapped cluster dots.

  • Publication number: 20060290988
Abstract: A method of setting frequency rate and angle differences between screens where moire patterns are not generated is provided. The method of setting the frequency rate and angle differences of the screens includes forming a binary image using at least two overlapped screens, and low-pass filtering the binary image to calculate an average reflectivity. A frequency component (cost) is calculated with respect to the binary image using the calculated average reflectivity. It is determined whether a moire pattern with respect to the binary image is generated based on the frequency component. Accordingly, the binary image where the moire pattern is not generated may be formed.
