  • Patent number: 7666691
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an organic semiconductor thin film by a wet process with a composite solution prepared by dissolving at least two organic semiconductor compounds in a mixed organic solvent including at least two organic solvents having different volatility and having different solubilities of the organic compounds at room temperature. Due to the differences in the evaporation speeds of the solvents and the solubilities of the organic compounds, the organic compounds are continuously deposited according to the composition of solvent that sequentially evaporates. Thus, the organic semiconductor thin film having a continuous multi-layer (non-boundary multi-layer) structure can be manufactured where different organic compounds coexist between the organic layers.

  • Patent number: 6987356
Abstract: An active matrix type organic electro-luminescent display (OELD) with high brightness, low power consumption and high reliability is provided. A triode organic electro-luminescent device that has higher brightness under lower operating voltage, comparing to the conventional organic light-emitting diode having two terminals, is electrically connected to a pixel portion of the OELD. Accordingly, when the spirit of the present invention is applied to a display having an organic luminescent device, it is possible to make electrical appliances having low power consumption and high brightness.

  • Patent number: 6967436
Abstract: A matrix-type organic electro-luminescent display (OELD) having triode organic EL device is provided. The first electrode that may be an anode or cathode is formed on the substrate. After a patterned electrically insulating layer is formed on the substrate and the first electrode, the second electrode for controlling the potential of the anode or the cathode is formed on the insulating layer so that the first electrode and the second electrode are formed at a different plane. And then an organic EL layer and third electrode (cathode or anode) are sequentially formed on the substrate. The organic EL layer is electrically connected to the first and the third electrodes in the emission part of the OELD, while the organic EL layer is electrically connected to the second electrodes in the non-emission part of the OELD for controlling potential between the anode and an organic EL layer or the cathode and the organic EL layer.

  • Patent number: 6897621
Abstract: A three-terminal organic electro-luminescent (EL) device is disclosed for achieving increased efficiency, decreased turn-on voltage, and increased brightness. The three-terminal organic EL device has a first electrode formed on a substrate, at least one organic material layer including an organic light-emitting layer formed on the first electrode, a second electrode formed on the organic material layer; and at least one third electrode formed on or inside said organic material layer. The third electrode is formed outside of a region, which is between the first electrode and the second electrode to prevent a reduction of luminescent area. The luminance of the organic EL device is controlled by adjusting potential of the third electrode with respect to the potentials of the first electrode and the second electrode.

  • Publication number: 20050012094
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an organic semiconductor device including an organic electro-luminescent device composed of a plurality of pixels, which display high quality image information. Insulating film patterns composed of insulating materials having a lower optical damage threshold than the optical damage threshold of a substrate are formed between pixel elements on the substrate. Organic layers including a light-emitting organic layer and electrodes are formed on the substrate where the insulating films are formed. Focused laser beams are irradiated to entirely remove the organic layers and electrode materials formed on the insulating film patterns and remove the insulating film patterns partially or entirely in view of thickness and, thereby forming a plurality of pixels. The optical damage process using laser beam irradiation is performed under the vacuum, or non-moisture and non-oxygen inert gas flows, to prevent the devices from being contaminated by residual products.
