Abstract: A terminal can acquire information required for an image configuration by accessing actual Electronic Service Guide (ESG) information using linking information when broadcast providers transmit Lightweight Application Scene Representation (LASeR) content including the linking information related to the LASeR content and the ESG information provided in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcast and Mobile Services (CBMS), Open Mobile Alliance Broadcasting (OMA-BCAST) or Open Air Interface (OAI) standard. The broadcast providers can directly control a configuration of a broadcast image to be displayed on the terminal, such that differentiated broadcast images can be provided on a broadcast provider-by-broadcast provider basis.

Abstract: A method of providing a broadcast data service in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) system and a system therefore is provided. The system includes a broadcast service providing server for inserting at least one of application type information and application execution information into an acquisition fragment of an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) and transmitting the ESG, and a broadcast receiving terminal for receiving the ESG and determining the application type information and application execution information contained in the acquisition fragment when the broadcast data service is provided.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and a method for providing a terminal with a notification message reporting changes of a system and of a service in the middle of a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) broadcasting service. The system inserts channel information related to the transmission of the notification message into Electronic Service Guide (ESG) service fragment or ESG acquisition fragment, then transmits the inserted channel information, or specifies a notification session for a session to transmit the session. In this manner, the channel information related to the notification message can be transmitted to a terminal through an ESG, and the terminal acquires the channel information related to the notification message from the received ESG to receive the notification message by using the channel information.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method for displaying file download information in a Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) terminal. The method includes receiving an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) data stream containing information regarding downloadable files, analyzing the downloadable file information in the ESG data stream, storing the downloadable file information in the memory module, and if a file download service is selected by a user, displaying the downloadable file information on the display unit, if downloading of at least one file is selected, examining download-related information using the stored file information corresponding to each file when the selected files are downloaded, and creating a download file list containing each file name and the download-related information examined corresponding to each file and displaying the download file list on a screen.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of notifying reconfiguration of the IP/MAC platform in a Digital Video Broadcasting DVB system. This method requires a Program Map Table (PMT) including a warning data field for representing reconfiguration of the IP/MAC platform and a time data field for representing the time of the reconfiguration. The DVB receiving terminal periodically monitors the PMT to prepare for the reconfiguration of the IP/MAC platform. Thus the DVB receiving terminal provides the DVB services to the user without interruption.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for providing a similar broadcasting service in a DVB-H system. The method includes: configuring and broadcasting Electric Service Guide (ESG) data including service linking information in which a DVB-H transmission server including data and access information about at least one linked service set in a certain DVB-H service; and receiving and storing the ESG data by a DVB-H reception terminal, detecting service linking information corresponding to a DVB-H service during reception from the ESG data if a reception intensity of signals is less than a preset reference value during reception of the DVB-H service, stopping reception of the DVB-H service being currently received, and receiving a linked service included in the service linking information with reference to the detected service linking information.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and a system for broadcasting an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) for digital broadcasting, which includes predetermined change information, when important information of the ESG is changed in a digital video broadcasting system. A digital broadcasting apparatus broadcasts an ESG that includes current information data and predetermined change information through a broadcasting communication network. A digital broadcasting reception terminal receives and stores the broadcasted ESG, provides a digital broadcast service based on the current information data of the ESG and provides a digital broadcast service based on the stored predetermined change information data after a prescheduled ESG change time point.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for providing heterogeneous services using a PIP function in a terrestrial DMB receiver. The method includes: a first step of receiving a key input for activating the PIP function and displaying a list of services in an available ensemble during use of a desired DMB service; a second step of selecting a desired item in the list of services; a third step of identifying if the desired item selected at the second step is an “exchange” function and identifying if PIP function of the terrestrial DMB receiver is activated when the selected item is the “exchange” function; a fourth step of exchanging a service of a main screen for a service of a PIP screen, when it is identified that the PIP function is activated at the third step; and a fifth step of identifying if the desired item selected at the second step is the “exchange” function and displaying the selected item on the PIP screen when the selected item is not the “exchange” function.

Abstract: A preset recording method through service linking according to movement from a first broadcasting area to a second broadcasting area in a terrestrial DMB terminal is provided. A preset recording for a predetermined broadcast program is checked to see if a current time is equal to a recording start time based on the specified preset recording; if so, extracting service linking information for the predetermined broadcast program; displaying that the DMB terminal has moved from the first broadcasting service area for the preset recording when the extracted service linking information corresponds to hard linking information, and recording a broadcasting program according to the hard linking information; and if they correspond, displaying that the DMB terminal has moved from the first broadcasting service area for the preset recording, and providing a list of broadcasting programs according to the soft linking information to enable a user to reset a preset recording function.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for downloading terrestrial DMB data using a multi-download algorithm. The multi-download algorithm enables the terrestrial DMB receiving apparatus to download and store the data service data in advance from the ensemble consisting of the video service data, the audio service data, and the data service data while enjoying the video or audio service, so that the DMB subscriber can be quickly provided with the data service data whenever needed later.

Abstract: A method is provided for a terrestrial DMB system to form EPG information that includes advertisement information, and XML-based schemas are defined and used for this purpose. Specifically, existing XML schemas regarding ensemble information, service information and program information have inserted therein the newly defined XML-based schemas so that provided advertising information can be displayed whenever EPG information is displayed.

Abstract: A method of upgrading software through a software download in a T-DMB terminal includes the steps of confirming, by the T-DMB terminal, an announcement message containing information for announcing when the software is downloaded by receiving a T-DMB signal and analyzing a plurality of fast information groups (FIGs), determining whether the software is downloaded according to information contained in the announcement message, if it is determined that the software is downloaded, storing ensemble information and download start time information among the information contained in the announcement message; matching a current ensemble with the stored ensemble when time according to the download start time information elapses, and confirming a signaling message for informing that the software is downloaded by analyzing an FIG received through the matched ensemble, and downloading the software.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for indicating whether to provide supplementary services through EPG information in a terrestrial DMB system. In this method, a DMB terminal of the terrestrial DMB system receives DMB broadcast data, and extracts the EPG information from the DMB broadcast data. The extracted EPG information is sorted according to service formats of an XML schema for providing the EPG information. Supplementary service information relating to a corresponding program is extracted from the sorted EPG information by means of a program format of the XML schema, and the extracted supplementary service information is stored together with the EPG information. The supplementary service information is provided together with program information of the corresponding program when the EPG information is displayed.

Abstract: A terrestrial DMB receiver using an imaginary channel in a terrestrial DMB system is disclosed. The terrestrial DMB receiver includes: a key input unit for receiving an input from a user; a display unit for providing image output to the user; an imaginary channel storage unit for storing information on imaginary channels designated to each broadcasting service by the user; a DMB receiving unit for receiving terrestrial DMB broadcasting; a MCI/SI analyzer for analyzing MCI and SI of FIC information from a DMB broadcasting signal received through the DMB receiving unit; and a controller for searching for the imaginary channel storage unit according to values of number keys input from the key input unit, extracting service IDs, controlling the DMB receiving unit to select broadcasting services according to the extracted service IDs, checking the information analyzed through the MCI/SI analyzer, and performing an update for the imaginary channel storage unit.

Abstract: A method for providing Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information using icons in a Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) receiver of a DMB system includes: receiving DMB data and extracting EPG information by the DMB receiver, dividing the extracted EPG information according to a broadcasting channel and classifying the divided EPG information according to a service type of each broadcasting channel, and outputting the EPG information including icons assigned to broadcasting channels according to service types.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for providing multiple formats through an XML based EPG schema in terrestrial DMB system.
