The apparatus for controlling a heating element of an electric range includes: a plurality of heating elements; an input unit to which an output adjustment value for each of the plurality of heating elements is input from a user; a calculation unit that calculates the sum of output power of each heating element corresponding to the output adjustment value input by the input unit; and a controller that compares the sum of output power calculated by the calculation unit with a predetermined power limit and linearly controls output of each heating element based on a result of comparison.
