  • Patent number: 6570161
Abstract: An X-ray detecting device and a fabricating method thereof capable of preventing a short between a lower electrode of a capacitor and a data line are presented. In the device, a data line insulating layer is formed to cover the data line and a gate line. The gate line is exposed through a contact hole defined in the data line insulating. Then a lower electrode is formed on the data line insulating layer and is electrically connected to the gate line via the contact hole. Subsequently, an upper electrode is formed to complete the device. The data line insulating layer prevents a short between the data line and the lower electrode when residual conductive materials are formed when the lower electrode is formed.

  • Publication number: 20020171083
Abstract: The present invention discloses a TFT array substrate (and method for making the same) having the large storage capacitance for use in a liquid crystal display device. In a four-mask process, the conventional storage capacitor of the TFT array substrate includes the capacitor electrodes and the insulation layer and semiconductor layer as a dielectric layer. However, the present invention includes the capacitor electrodes and the insulation layer as a dielectric layer so that the thickness of the dielectric layer becomes thinner. Therefore, much more electric charges can be stored in the storage capacitor. That means the liquid crystal display device can have a high picture quality and a high definition. Moreover, the present invention has a structure that can achieve the high manufacturing yield.

  • Publication number: 20020113915
Abstract: An LCD panel includes a plurality of gate lines and gate electrodes formed on a substrate and a gate insulating film formed on the substrate including the gate lines and the gate electrodes. A semiconductor film is formed in a region on the gate insulating film and an ohmic contact film formed on the semiconductor film. A plurality of data lines cross the gate lines; a source electrode is formed on the ohmic contact film; and a pixel electrode is formed in a pixel region defined by the gate and data lines. A drain electrode is formed on the ohmic contact film, and has an uneven width. Since a portion of drain electrode that overlaps with the gate electrode has a smaller width than a width of other portions of the drain electrode, variation in an area of the drain electrode overlapped with the gate electrode is small, so that variation of the parasitic capacitance can be reduced, thereby improving picture quality.

  • Patent number: 6172733
Abstract: An LCD is adapted to be manufactured using a significantly reduced number of masks and masking processes. In order to form a gate of the LCD, aluminum and one of molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten and antimony are sequentially deposited and patterned using a single mask. Cutting a shorting bar for preventing static electricity is performed while a passivation layer is patterned and rinsed. Accordingly, an LCD produced by this method includes a first metal layer, which includes a first contact hole and is disposed on a substrate, a second metal layer which covers the first metal layer and includes a second contact hole which is smaller than the first contact hole, an insulating layer, which covers the second metal layer and includes a third contact hole larger than the second contact hole, and a pad, which includes a conductive layer contacting the second metal layer through the third contact hole on the insulating layer.
