    Abstract: A system for image analysis and a method thereof are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system includes a detector configured to receive an image of a sample, isolate particles from a background image of the sample image and detect positions of the isolated particles and a first operator configured to calculate a static degree of randomness values of the particles using Lennard-Jones potentials based on the detected positions. The system may further include a second operator configured to obtain a dynamic degree of randomness values of particles based at least in part on the sum of tensile forces between particles by implicit integration added until the particles reach a dynamic equilibrium, and calculate a positional degree of randomness of particles based at least in part on subtraction of the dynamic degree of randomness values from the static degree of randomness values.

    Abstract: An electric power steering apparatus for an automobile includes a reduction mechanism having a worm shaft and a worm wheel, the worm shaft having a worm formed on an outer peripheral surface of the worm shaft, the worm shaft being contained in a housing, the worm wheel being formed on a side of the steering shaft, the reduction mechanism being driven by the motor; a support member for enclosing an end-side outer peripheral surface of the worm shaft; and an elastic member for applying elastic force to the support member in a direction slanted away from an axial direction of the worm shaft. The gap between the worm wheel and the worm shaft is compensated for and backlash is avoided. Since a single elastic member is used, the number of components is reduced, the manufacturing process is simplified, and the manufacturing cost is reduced.

    Abstract: A variable gear ratio steering apparatus for an automobile includes an input shaft connected to a steering wheel; a sun gear coaxially formed with the input shaft while enclosing the input shaft; a first pair of planet gears externally meshing with the sun gear; a second pair of planet gears externally meshing with the sun gear; a first carrier coupled to the input shaft while connecting the first pair of planet gears; a second carrier adapted to rotate relative to the input shaft while connecting the second pair of planet gears; a ring gear internally meshing with the first and second pairs of planet gears; and an input shaft connected to the ring gear. The second carrier is inserted into the first carrier while being supported by a compression means so that the second carrier can rotate relative to the input shaft. This reduces backlash.
