Patent number: 11924396Abstract: A depth camera assembly (DCA) for depth sensing of a local area. The DCA includes a transmitter, a receiver, and a controller. The transmitter illuminates a local area with outgoing light in accordance with emission instructions. The transmitter includes a fine steering element and a coarse steering element. The fine steering element deflects one or more optical beams at a first deflection angle to generate one or more first order deflected scanning beams. The coarse steering element deflects the one or more first order deflected scanning beams at a second deflection angle to generate the outgoing light projected into the local area. The receiver captures one or more images of the local area including portions of the outgoing light reflected from the local area. The controller determines depth information for one or more objects in the local area based in part on the captured one or more images.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2022Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: META PLATFORMS TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Michael Hall, Qing Chao, Byron Taylor, Xinqiao Liu

Patent number: 11922711Abstract: Embodiments relate to tracking and determining a location of an object in an environment surrounding a user. A system includes one or more imaging devices and an object tracking unit. The system identifies an object in a search region, determines a tracking region that is smaller than the search region corresponding to the object, and scans the tracking region to determine a location associated with the object. The system may generate a ranking of objects, determine locations associated with the objects, and generate a model of the search region based on the locations associated with the objects.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2021Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLCInventors: Michael Hall, Byron Taylor

Publication number: 20210388968Abstract: Generally, this disclosure enables various technologies for directed illumination. For example, this disclosure enables a sign (e.g., an electronic billboard) having a louver board with a plurality of brims and a plurality of channel groups, where the brims one-to-one shade the channel groups.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2020Publication date: December 16, 2021Inventors: Arnie Benecke, Byron Hall

Patent number: 9326398Abstract: An electronic sign includes a planar lighting module emitting visible light. A cabinet supportingly engages the lighting module. An air chamber is between the cabinet and the lighting module. A vertical partition is within the air chamber and extends between a bottom wall and a top wall of the cabinet, and between the lighting module and a rear wall of the cabinet. The partition divides the air chamber into first and second sections. An electric fan is within the cabinet and transfers air from the first to the second section. The cabinet and/or the lighting module include a plurality of throughholes fluidly interconnecting the air chamber to ambient air. A first subset of the throughholes are more closely fluidly connected to the first section than to the second section. A second subset of the throughholes are more closely fluidly connected to the second section than to the first section.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2015Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: WatchFire Signs, LLCInventors: Ryan Messmore, Byron Hall, Larry Smith, Jeff Koebrich
