  • Patent number: 6721988
Abstract: A paint roller having modular, rebuildable sections including a hollow tubular handle terminating in a cylindrical end connected to an offset midsection and a roller spindle rod. The offset midsection includes a pair of clamps at opposed ends. The first clamp includes a clamp body with a slotted opening and a collar having an opening within which said cylindrical end is received. A screw passing through the clamp body and collar is turned to retract the collar into the slotted opening thus locking the handle to the midsection. A second clamp includes a clamp housing with a threadable opening, a plastic bushing transverse to the threadable opening and a spindle rod having ridges passing through the plastic bushing. A set screw is insertable within the threadable opening, pushing a plastic surface of the plastic bushing into the ridges and locking the spindle rod to the clamp and attached midsection.

  • Patent number: 5947388
Abstract: An articulated pole for use as an extension in fluid spraying devices. The pole includes a flexible high pressure fluid hose that passes through a hinge which is part of a tubular outer housing. The fluid hose transports the fluid under pressure from a fluid source, connected on one end of the pole, to a spray tip nozzle, located on the other end of the pole. The hinge can be locked at any angle through its full range of pivotal movement or can be adjusted to customize the level of friction required for continuous pivot movement. Multiple hinges can be placed along the pole to allow for compound bending moments and to allow greater maneuverability for the person operating the fluid spraying device.

  • Patent number: 5853258
Abstract: A fluid applicator for surfaces combining a spray-gun and dynamically displacable roller-brushes that features an extension wand formed from a plurality of coupled together segments. Each of the segments include a hollow and rigid tubular body completely encasing a flexible high pressure fluid hose. The tubular body includes a coupler connected at each end thereof, with the fluid hose extending between the couplers. Each coupler includes a large bore region having a plurality of threads. Adjacent segments are coupled together by a threaded barrel adapted to threadably engage adjacent large bore regions. Disposed opposite to the large bore regions of each coupler is a small bore region which has a plurality of threads which are adapted to engage the a threaded attachments associated with conventional high pressure fluid hoses. In this fashion, a fluid tight seal is formed between opposed ends of each segment.

  • Patent number: 5829905
Abstract: A fluid applicator for surfaces combining a spray-gun and dynamically displacable roller-brushes with a moveable travel limiter selectively adjusts the maximum rotational displacement of the roller-brushes to prevent the same traveling across the path of a fluid spray being emitted from the spray-gun. The angle of a fluid stream exiting the nozzle is allowed to vary with respect to the longitudinal axis of the roller-brushes to more accurately control over-spray, especially with surfaces in close proximity with one another.

  • Patent number: 5685658

The angle of a fluid stream exiting the nozzle is allowed to vary with respect to the longitudinal axis of the roller-brushes to more accurately control over-spray, especially with surfaces in close proximity with one another. The roller-brush applicator includes a frame having first and second opposed ends, with a clamp, attached to the first end, for attaching the frame proximate to the nozzle, and a cross-member pivotally mounted to the second end to rotate about a pivot axis. The cross-member preferably includes a pair of spaced-apart roller-brushes, each of which is rotatably mounted to a shaft. The shafts extend parallel to, and are disposed on opposite sides of, the pivot axis. The nozzle defines a flow path extending between the spaced-apart roller-brushes, transverse to the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 5340026
Abstract: A fluid spraying gun having a disk-shaped shield positioned adjacent to a spray of fluid at an adjustable angle. The shield has a sharp edge that can roll on a surface for creating a sharp border between an area exposed to spray and an area concealed from spray. The shield also has a rounded rim on a face distal to the spray for sliding along a surface transverse to the surface the edge rolls on, allowing the formation of a sharp border along a corner between the surfaces or the positioning of the spray a set distance from the transversely oriented wall. A lip rings a face adjacent the spray for catching excess spray prior to the edge, a tip of the lip aligned between an orifice where the spray originates and the edge. The shield is connected to the gun via a shaft which can pivot about an axis near the orifice, such that the tip and the edge remain aligned with the orifice at a variety of angles.
