  • Publication number: 20070025284
Abstract: Techniques to reduce transmit power required for transmission of messages from an access terminal to reduce interference to transmissions from other access terminals. In one aspect, messages to be transmitted are defined and/or coded such that they may be detected at different received signal qualities. The codewords may be defined having different distances to their nearest codewords. In another aspect, messages to be transmitted are assigned to different points in a signal constellation, with the points being located such that they may be received at different signal qualities. Codewords that may be received at a lower signal quality may be assigned to messages more likely to be transmitted at higher transmit power levels (e.g., when the access terminal is located further away) or to more frequently transmitted messages.

  • Publication number: 20030039342
Abstract: A message recorder permits non-sequential review of new or archived incoming messages. A filename generator generates a filename based on call identification information of an incoming telephone call. A storage interface allocates a region of a data storage to the incoming call and stores message data of the incoming call to the allocated region. Stored message data may be accessed via a corresponding filename rather than sequentially as in a conventional answering machine.

  • Publication number: 20030030561
Abstract: A positional tracking system including a mobile unit is disclosed which may be disposed in a pre-determined coverage area, such as an amusement park. The mobile unit may send an alert message to a dispatch center or parent units if the mobile unit enters locations defined by forbidden coordinates. The mobile unit may function only within the a coverage area, and thus park patrons will have little incentive to remove mobile units from the coverage area. A dispatch center may determine when the mobile unit leaves the coverage area and notify a parent unit. Additionally, the mobile unit can automatically sound an audible alert when leaving the coverage area.

  • Patent number: 6108536
Abstract: A system for displaying performance characteristics of a circuit in a telecommunications network. The system is adapted for use with a CDMA telecommunications network and includes a Markov call testing system for performance testing the telecommunications circuit. A computer stores the results of the performance test. Software running on the computer determines a subset of the results sufficient to reflect the performance of the telecommunications circuit. A monitor on the computer displays information corresponding to the subset. In the illustrative embodiment, the system further includes a method for determining if one or more receive antennas in the telecommunications network are balanced. The telecommunications circuit corresponds to a cell site modem chip in a base station. The subset includes a number of finger signal peaks. The number is determined by calculations performed on a scan set to determine a floor above which signal peaks are chosen for inclusion in the subset.
