  • Patent number: 6307900
Abstract: A digital data detection system, equipped with an interpolation apparatus, for generating decoded data by detecting information stored on a magnetic storage medium by interpolating sampled data using a phase difference signal and an interpolation coefficient is provided. The digital data detection system includes a magnetic storage medium, an analog signal acquisition circuit, a pre-amplifier, an A/D converter, an interpolation circuit, an equalizer filter, a data decoder, and a phase error detector. The interpolation circuitry includes an accumulation block, a filter coefficient generation block, a HOLD signal generation block, and an interpolator. The interpolation circuitry generates interpolated data using a phase error signal and an interpolation coefficient provided from a MCU (Main Control Unit).

  • Patent number: 6201832
Abstract: In a data detection apparatus for use in a magnetic recording/playback system, an A/D converter converts an analog playback signal into digital playback data at a sampling rate in accordance with a previously obtained (i−1)st sampling clock signal (SCSi−1) to provide an ith sample value (Si). An interpolation filter performs interpolation filtering on the Si based on a previously obtained (i−1)st phase error (PE) signal (PEi−1) to provide an ith interpolated sample value (ISi) and an ith hold signal (Hi) under a predetermined hold condition in an asynchronous mode (ASM). An equalization channel (EC) equalizes the ISi by using a partial response 4 method either based on a previously obtained (i−1)st error signal (Ei−1) in a synchronous mode or based on the Ei−1 and a previously obtained (i-1)st hold signal (Hi−1) in ASM to supply an ith equalized sample value (ESi).

  • Patent number: 5999349
Abstract: A waveform equalization apparatus equalizes a digital information signal reproduced from a recording medium by multiplying the reproduced digital information signal and delayed signals thereof by tap coefficients, wherein each of the tap coefficients is adaptively controlled. An output signal of a transversal filter for each of a plural number of symbol data included in a digital information signal reproduced from a target track is compared with predetermined thresholds to obtain a plausible digital information signal. An amplitude difference between the output signal and the plausible digital information signal is calculated. Thereafter, the tap coefficients of each symbol data and the output signals of the plural number of symbol data are analyzed to provide a coefficient value status signal indicating whether the tap coefficients are converged or diverged and a data analysis result signal representing whether an eye pattern of the output signals is open or closed.

  • Patent number: 5473371
Abstract: A picture editing apparatus for use in a video camera that generates a video signal for a picture with successive video lines is capable of providing a window and a blank area within the picture. The apparatus comprises a selection button for generating a signal to select a vertical length and a horizontal width of the window; a synchronization signal generator for generating synchronization signals; a control unit, in response to the selection signal, for processing the synchronization signals to generate a window signal; a window generator, in response to the window signal, for processing the video signal to derive the window and the blank area.
